As much as I'd love Falcao it's just not going to happen. I think we'll get Adebayor and that will be it as far as strikers are concerned.

On the old thread think someone said it was just a wind up - Falcao

Ade can't be the only striker. We'd only have him, an unhappy and not-a-lone-striker Defoe and a not-Premiership-ready Kane.

We need a minimum of 2.

Who's good enough to start in place of Adebayor but willing to sit the bench if Ade is healthy? Can't think of many, Defoe is probably the best we can do.

It had better not be, esp if he picks up a long term inury we're fooked.

I agree that we'd be fucked if Ade were to get injured, but I just can't see us bringing anyone else in. Have we even been linked to another striker that could play Adebayor's role?

Defoe isn't really happy to sit on the bench though, and more importantly, is absolutely useless in the formation we will be playing. To say he is the best we can do is very silly.

The falcao post was a Windup, the guy who tweeted it later retracted it saying he was just seeing if we wanted him or something and he has no information and thanks for all the follows!!

Let's say no more about this ****.

Apologies if this has already been dealt with but......

Akqayid tweeted this yesterday -

akqayid ‏@akqayid
Please god make it happen Please god make it happen Please god make it happen Please god make it happen

and later on Re-tweeted this -

jonny alcock ‏@JonnyAlcock
Falcao to spurs is done, trust me this is 100 percent done #THFC

Couldn't get on here yesterday. Any ideas if Akqa was shooting holes in it and the RT was to just take the piss? If so, is there a clue as to what his earlier tweet in is reference to?

The same poster admitted it was a wind-up, which in turn makes Aqua's retweet laughable.

Fletcher? Doyle? Moses? Sturridge? All would be better as a lone frontman and importantly would be happy to bide their time on the bench. Fletcher, Moses and Sturridge are also versatile enough to play across a front 3, so perhaps would not be benchwarming as much as Defoe.

Everything points towards Ade eventually being sealed, and I highly doubt we're going to bring in another big name unless a vdV-esque deal falls into our lap.

Sturridge would be a good move. Steven Fletcher I like a lot, wouldn't mind us going after him. Guess he would be the best replacement, the other two Moses and Doyle I would avoid.

Doyle??? The guy is horrendous! He had a couple of good games 2 seasons ago but since then has completely gone off the boil and is now a regular on the bench for both club and country. He scored 4 league goals last season and 5 the season before - hardly the type of player to come in to a top 4 chasing squad!
