Sturridge was outstanding for team GB when he came on. Starting to change my mind about the lad. Cant see chelsea selling mind.

Always rated Sturridge. A poor man's Welback. Would be an excellent back up to Ade.

Spursvert often seems to have good info - ITK ?

Read from bottom.

...as Moutinho is still our #1 when Luka goes. I don't expect this to be done until next week earliest unless a drastic change occurs #THFC

My understanding on Modric: all parties wants are pretty much there, we want more up front than they'll offer. Sahin wont happen now cont'd.

Last year of contract, high wages, wants to be first team but Chelsea have signed hazard and Marin and are looking at Moses who all can occupy that wide right position. I think they would Definately sell him.

Fletcher? Doyle? Moses? Sturridge? All would be better as a lone frontman and importantly would be happy to bide their time on the bench. Fletcher, Moses and Sturridge are also versatile enough to play across a front 3, so perhaps would not be benchwarming as much as Defoe.

Everything points towards Ade eventually being sealed, and I highly doubt we're going to bring in another big name unless a vdV-esque deal falls into our lap.

Er if we want to finish mid table yes, but we don't. Moses has done nothing yet gets hyped up, Doyle is very ordinary and Fletcher, well lower mid table at best player.

Sturridge as an attacker yes, but not a lone front man no, he wouldn't be able to hold the ball up to bring others into play.

They were flying back after the game. They'll be back at some point today.

I just don't understand JJ's response regarding Falcao. JJ has never been the type of person to deliberately wind people up, and he knew what not rubbishing the rumour would do to the hoards of people on here. The initial tweet by that guy was random faecal matter, but yeah, JJ's response is puzzling somewhat

Ranking these 3 I would say :

Fletcher - reasonable scoring record and assists with Wolves last season (= to goals with DEfoe, much better assists record), was being looked at by bigger sides whilst in Scotland. Good understudy as lone front man, would not be embarressing for us against 75% of premiership sides or in Europa group stages. Possibly more versatile than that too. Think he's a good option.

Sturridge - footballwise looking good, although not that experienced. Would be more worried about his personal choices, starting at Man City and moving to Chelsea smacks of a problem over money. However that bit could be cleared up in personal chats at Spurs.

Moses - Winger/striker. Personally think of him more as a winger rather than a striker, so would prefer him as 3rd striker rather than back up striker, so only get him if we can afford the 2nd striker as well !

Doyle - Was good, but that was 2 or 3 seasons ago. Too big a risk as 2nd striker - we would be dependent upon him recovering 100% of his old form. Kernwyne Jones would be another similar risky striker. No thanks

The same poster admitted it was a wind-up, which in turn makes Aqua's retweet laughable.

Just because someone retweets something doesn't mean that its important.

It happens all the time.

Pick some names then?

Any striker in the world who can play the lone striker role even to just an adequate standard would be better than Defoe. But I don't buy into the notion that it has to be someone who is happy to sit on the bench - we are a top club, and like most top clubs in the world, we should be aiming to have two top class strikers. Ade and Leandro will do nicely.

That would be a disgrace. We need two strikers.

I've got a horrible feeling we're going to spin it by saying Bale can double as a striker. Personally I think we need Adebayor and another striker that can stand in for him if/when needed. In an ideal world we would also replace Defoe with someone more suited to playing in AVBs system but I just can't see it happening.

The time to sign falcao was when berbatov was sold. We were linked during levy mad dash around the world for a replacement.

Tbf he's denied Falcao would ever happen more than once this window already, and as this came from an unknown idiot with no history of itk maybe he didn't think it was even worth commenting on.

I agree that we'd be fucked if Ade were to get injured, but I just can't see us bringing anyone else in. Have we even been linked to another striker that could play Adebayor's role?
There's Leandro but I don't think that will happen.

There's also Lewandowski but a lot less references on him.

I agree that's about it. I think the 2nd striker is hinging on the first so won't know who to go for until Ade is resolved.

I will be absolutely furious if we don't sign two decent forwards. Adebayor will be away in Jan/Feb at the ANC. Defoe up top on his own is atrocious and I will not accept any spin regarding Bale becoming a striker. I honestly will think about giving up my season ticket unless 2 strikers are signed.
