I just find it very very hard to believe the club is lining up world class players with values amounting to over £90m because, lets be honest, If you sign a play for massive money you have to pay massive wages and we don't.

All this talk about world class players, realistically how many world class players are there in the modern game? Very few and I don't think we can afford them or offer them Champions League football.

Not being negative, just not buying it really. Still very optimistic about things going forward for Spurs.

It's a fair comment and one that I share in the main.

If, and it's a huge if, we splurge £90 odd million on new personnel then I think we can imply that there has been significant investment of some description within the club.

I think he was saying that if we got all our targets their "value" would be around £90m, but obviously if you line up 3 strikers, 3 midfielders and 3 goalkeepers for £10m each, and one sign 1 of each your only doing £30m of deals.

I think FFP is having some effect on teams, somehow Chelsea are totally taking the piss unless they expect not to need to sign players in the next few years or something.

Think this is possible, even without investment. Ramos backed heavily, Harry too, both at the start of their reign. Think someone mentioned the summer of mods/bently etc was 60mil. We haven't spent much in recent seasons, being very frugal...

Add to that mods transfer fee too. I think though JJ mentioned that if a we get shot of a few their would be a lot of activity? Clearing the wage bill is just as important as the transfer fee it seems.

Sounds like agent Sandro may be tempting Leandro to the Lane... Or not. No-one really knows except those on lockdown :p.

I think Leandro is looking more likely than Ade at the moment. If Modric does go, Moutinho will be our number one target. Those two in would be some business.

Sorry I was meant to hit agree

I disagreed instead

Clubs will find a way to circumvent the FFP rules I'm sure but a transfer window of those proportions flies directly against our transfer policy of previous years and like I said, unless the goal posts have been pushed back significantly in terms of our financial firepower then I don't see that changing.

AVB must be really forcing the issue with Moutinho because he will definately cost over 20m, Levy knows it and that amount of money being spent at the Lane is unheard so maybe we actually mean business this year.

What we have to consider is that TV Money both domestically and internationally will double, that alone might allow Levy to open up the purse strings a bit more knowing he has financial boosts coming. Also, the new shirt deals being doled out are bigtime gamechangers, Levy will use them as a precedent to get us a very good deal when we get a new sponsor.

All in all, there are things happening that we cannot account for that might be helping us in terms of these big deals.

Apologies. Was trying to see who liked it and accidently disliked it on my phone. Obligatory dumb post from bromovinci please.

I've liked your other post to make up for it...

Actually the dislike was from Deufman who has been a member since Jan 2008 and made ZERO entries. WTF? Maybe a supporter for a rival club, reporter, KNOB?

So, in his interview earlier, AVB was talking about how he planned to re-integrate Modric into the squad if his move didn't go through. If Modric stays, will he still want Moutinho, who he seems set on?

And can we all just take a moment to consider the awesomeness of those two playing in our midfield together.

It is obvious that Moutinho is a big target but I find it hard to believe that Porto would sell him this late in the transfer window.
