One thing that immediately leaps out at me:

Premier League match day and catering receipts were £81.9m for 14 games.

That’s £5.85m per game. :wideyed:

Ouch. No wonder we want the fans back in as soon as.

All in the same boat though, not just us.

That loan really helped us out then.

One thing for sure is that we need the fans back in ASAP.

Still bad news on the whole but I noticed that too.

To put that into perspective, Spurs would make a little more than Man Utd from league games alone (£111.15m) than they do in a whole season (110.8m in 2018/2019 when they reached Q/F of UCL).

What's scary is if you add Champions League football, good runs in the other two cups and the other events (NFL, Boxing, music, video games etc.) then my wildest guess is you're looking at anything from £160m to pushing towads £200m per year.

To put it simply, Tottenham Hotspur has the highest stadium revenue out of every football club on the planet, and by some distance!

Still, one step at a time with tjis Covid-19.

Quickly knock out another Amazon "All or nothing" mini series...
.
I'm hoping DL has it all under control for now, that's his specialty.

Yep. It is one of the reasons I have been banging on about fans getting back in as soon as possible. We'll lose a lot of money but should be ok. May need to extend that BoE loan though if we can (there was an option of differing payment for another 12 months, you'd think wed take than up).

Cant get fans back in for a few months with the holiday season coming up. But come February, why cant there be a capacity cap with no stands closed to allow for social distance and a mask mandate besides when eating/drinking? Temporarily ban loitering in the concourses, and allow beer to be taken to seats temporarily. No fans just is not sustainable. So many clubs will be folding during the season and the summer if nothing changes.

They're considering it, they're under pressure now.

Commercial revenue up 20% too, the area we have the most growth to aim for. More losses to come for 20/21 Thanks to stadium closure but long term I think we are set to be sitting pretty at the top of the financial leagues in 5 to 10 years time.

Could be much worse. I know COVID is a pretty unexpected, once-in-a-century type event, but for years (maybe the majority) people have been calling for us to spend more money than would be unsustainable (even if it was affordable).

If we'd had Liverpools basic wage budget (£264m) prior to COVID, we would probably not have qualified for the £150m loan thing from the government, and would have another £116m extra on our own budget (£148m), so could well have been worse off by £300m or more by this stage.

As much as they get a hammering for it, it's no surprise that teams like Burnley have spent nearly nothing. You could have had, by now, a team like Bournemouth having won back-to-back PL titles being dissolved, because of a lack of background infrastructure

The 5 year comparison is very interesting.

2016 (2nd last full season at old WHL) we had overall revenue of £209M.

Last year, despite only having match day revenue for 14 home games, we had revenues of £402M, and without Covid-19 pandemic this would have been north of £530M!

Right there, that is what Levy has done. Genius.

Amazing how many people complained about building the stadium and said we should have spent the money on the playing side. Hopefully these people were a loud minority.

The pandemic has obviously hit us financially but the earning potential is very clear for all to see.

In view of actual losses and predicted losses in the financial statement think Daniel Levy deserves a round of applause for the recent transfer dealings done by the club in such financial gloom.

Levy knows as good as anyone though that if we won a Cup and finish top 4 then the revenue issues (as well as general need for transfer dealings) are less of an issue. I think that's why he's backed Jose so much, he knows our best shot is to win our way into some money.

Sad fact financially is that the PL & Champions League dwarf FA Cup & League Cup when it comes to income. Even if we were to win one of the domestic cups it wouldn't do much for our revenue , winning Europa League would be better than FA Cup or League Cup. Top 4 and CL is the aim for most clubs.

This is from last years accounts just shows how little is earned in domestic cups..

"The Club reached the Final of the UEFA Champions League (2018: Round of 16 of UEFA Champions League) resulting in gate receipts and prize money of £108.4m (2018: £62.2m). This represents the 13th time in the last 14 seasons that the Club has played in Europe.
Revenue from the domestic cup competitions earned the Club £3.1m (2018: £4.4m). "

Top 4 is the prize. At the start of the season I'd have said we were 50/50 to make it (worse after the Everton game) but we brought in four or five players after that and with the squad we have now I would be shocked if we're not back in the CL next season. Achieve that and a lot of the money problems go away.
