Ouch. No wonder we want the fans back in as soon as.

All in the same boat though, not just us.
We're not all in the same boat. Our revenue is much more reliant on the stadium being open, and we've got tonnes of debt based on the assumption that it would be. We are by far the worst affected PL club

Indeed we are.

But, financially, we are also one of the best run clubs in England - if not the best run - with comfortably the lowest wages to turnover ratio in the Premier League. Which is why we are one of only two clubs (Man Utd being the other) that met the criteria for the Bank of England CCFF (Covid Corporate Financing Facility).

So although we stand to miss out on more revenue than any other club while COVID continues to bite, we're also much better positioned than all but a few other clubs to remain strong while seeing it out.

Well, we’re all in the same ocean then. All clubs are affected by this, the smallest being the very most vulnerable who could well be wiped out totally. We may have large debt and significant overheads, but we also have other areas, like our commercial growth and TV money to keep us alive.

Todays news on fans returning is good news.

Also in those accounts is £97m of player acquisitions (p 37). I wonder when the last time was such a large amount in there?

We made half those purchases knowing about the losses we were going to make. If we were that worried about our finances we wouldn’t of bought anyone in the summer.

So if we took about 80m on matchday income and now we’re budgeting to take about 180m. That works out at 100m extra per year

With my back of a stamp accounting I estimate we'll have the stadium paid off in about 10 years

How much interest will we pay on the 1 billion over about 10 years?

you’re right. I misread. So that’s to come out next year. Shit. We signed GLC in January though didn’t we. Weird he’s in there.

I cannot understand why the GLC permanent transfer is stated as a post balance sheet event.

Most of that was me eating sausage rolls

And you should be commended for your efforts.

Now I don't mean to be unkind to those who keep themselves trim, but if we're only allowed 4,000 people into a 60,000 stadium, I don't want a bunch of lightweights getting access, having half a lager shandy and a bag of nuts and no more. I want busloads of pint-swilling trenchermen who are prepared to eat their own weight in burgers and then some. Get them in for breakfast, then keep 'em there until closing time.

I'm not saying everyone who gets in must eat and drink for fifteen people to help make up the lost revenue. But they must be prepared to give it a bloody good go. This is our next midfielder at stake here. We don't want to aim for second best, just because we didn't maximise our food and drink sales through ineffective selection of attendees.

I appreciate it's not necessarily fair, but it's the only way we'll get our finances back on an even keel and it would only be until we could have full crowds again. I'm thinking 'Fat as a whale? Then come and watch Bale' or 'Partial to drinks? Then come and see Winks' as straplines for this. What do you reckon?

Maybe the 4000 could get sponsored each game to see how much they can eat and drink on matchday with the money raised going towards diabetes research

Shame our billionaire owner, Lewis, doesn’t put his hand in his very deep pockets and help us out.

I’ll never understand how ‘a fan’ in his position will not see an opportunity like this season as the time to push on and possibly see us win the league.

Any help he gives us could be tax deductible anyway.

I know he would never ever do this as it’s an investment company that owns us etc but it’d be nice for a change to help us through an unprecedented period.

Lewis has a decent chunk of money tied up in the hospitality sector, so I suspect he’s taken a good kicking over the last 9 months, so based on this it’s unlikely that he’ll be dipping into his war chest for us as he’s got other businesses on life support.
