... Have to hate the Scum as much (or even more?) as you love Spurs?

I ask as a reaction to this thread;

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=27722

Basically... some people are happy about Eduardo's injury.

Where I stand on it is simple. I'm happy he's out for the rest of the season. I wish it could happen to more Arsenal players. It's not immature of me, it's simply because I hate Arsenal almost as much as I love Spurs. Now the injury itself is horrible and I feel for Eduardo as a bloke. No one deserves that (maybe, just maybe Henry... And Bobby Pires... And... Ok, I'll stop).

It's an argument I have with two of my brothers and I always land in the middle. Basically, one of them says you MUST hate Arsenal as much as you love Spurs. The other says feelings to the Scum are irrelevant and as I mentioned, I lie in between.

So what do you think?

I hate Arsenal as much as the next Spurs supporter, but I wouldn't want any player to suffer that injury. It was sick.

Surely no-one actually wishes such pain and misery on another human being, Gooner or not?

I don't like Arsenal, their fans or a few of their players but I like the way they pass the ball and the players like Cesc, Clichey, Bendtner and a few others. I intensely dislike Eboue (even though he is good), Senderos, Adebayor, Lehmann, Wenger, Gallas, Gilberto

it is disgusting that injury, on football 365 it looks like his foot has been detatched from his leg, i do hate him but really cant wish that on anyone. apparently there is talk of amputation. that would be heartbreaking for anyone.

You can never wish that sort of injury to happen to any other human being. The end.

I can't imagine they'd amputate. That is very drastic when they have healed much more serious injuries. It's his shin not his ankle

If not wishing that sort of injury on any player (including arsenal players) makes me less of a spurs fan in the eyes of a few of my fellow supporters then I can live with that and be consoled by the fact that I am the better person.

Im sorry but i dont really hate any scum player or fan, hate is too strong a word i despise people like eboue and gallas etc but to see a player (who i think is quality no matter who he plays for) see his career possibly ended in his first season in the premiership is very sad. I dont see how you could wish it on anyone, i think its quite pathetic if you do.

And on the topic of having to hate the Arse ...

I don't really hate the Arse. I nothing them. I despise players like Eboue (in particular), Gallas and people like Wenger, but I feel the same about Arse as I once did (and still do to an extent) about ManUre. I don't hate the team, I intensely dislike some of the people associated with the club.

It's a Spurs thing for me. Of course Arsenal are probably my least favourite team, but to be honest it's kind of a pantomime thing. It was more serious when I was younger, but it does no good at all to dwell on negatiive thoughts. Love for Spurs and hate for Arsenal or anyone else do not correlate at all for me.

Regarding injuries to players, it's part of the business to be honest. Every player will get some kind of injury in his career, and will probably miss games as a result. Everyone knows this. It can be an advantage when we face opposition who are weakened though injury. It's obviously a disadvantage when our players are injured.

Serious injuries are also a risk in this line of work. A mistimed tackle, badly placed elbow or awkward landing can have serious consequences. We see what I consider to be quite shocking injuries pretty much every season.
We've even seen players die on the field.

At some point I think you really have to see past the colour of a players shirt. Arsenal players aren't bad people just because of the club they play for. Certain players might seem like total arseholes but how well do any of us really know them? Even if they genuinely are arseholes does it mean that we should take delight in serious injuries that these players suffer?

I know that if this had happened to one of our lads and fans of Arsenal or any other team had posted comments taking some kind of pleasure from the injury we would be pretty sickened. Rightly so, too.

the top picture makes it look worst I think, can really see how high Taylor's foot is, studs showing and all.

Can't complain about the red card. The tackle was late and bad. The resulting injury is just so unfortunate.

Also, Coventry's Stephen Hughes (isn't he an ex-gooner?) was knocked unconscious in the Coventry-Leicester game today. Recovered consciousness in the ambulance and should be fine they say, probably a concussion and a broken jaw or cheekbone.

I think the answer comes back to where the feelings stem from.

As far as i'm aware people don't become Spurs supporters because they hate Arsenal, people support Spurs and then as a result of that develop a dislike for Arsenal.
