Scored a lovely goal yesterday. Purchase with loan back to Blackpool makes sense if it were to happen.

Am I the only one, that's rather annoyed we'll sign a long time gooner fan? Maybe I'm just silly, to think in those lines.

He was class at Blackpool, but when professional footballers support, ur rivals, I can't see why we should sign them..

I wouldn't say no to another young prospect personally.

A loan back would make sense considering the depth we have out wide now.

Converting gooners, one lost soul at a time. :)

We've had many of those.
How do you feel about Defoe?

I guess I see ur point.. As I stated, I might just be silly.. Just always looked down on him as an individual for being so open about being a Arsenal fan.

Defoe, have been loyal thru the years.. Still.. Its just my opinion, that if it stood to me, no gooner fans at our club..

It might have been said but doesn't his contract run out at the end of next season anyway?

Ah the biggest misconception in world football. EVERY time Defoe has been a bench player, ie not an automatic starter, he has constantly been in the press saying, "I just want to play football, if I'm not playing for Tottenham I'll have to assess my options and look for a club I will play for".. He's no more loyal than any other footballer & people that suggest otherwise are simply blinded by some bizarre belief that he is a great goalscorer & a loyal Yiddo. He's neither of those things. Scored lots of goals, should have scored many more.

As for never wanting a Gooner supporter to play for THFC, are you serious? You're telling me, if Messi was an Arseanal supporter but was available & wanted to come to THFC, you wouldn't want him because he supports Arseanal? That's ridiculous. As rabbikeake said, Defoe is a Gooner supporter. Yet, because he's supposedly been "loyal thru the years" you'll excuse that fact? Who gives a flying fuck what team any player supports? If he's class & doing the business for THFC, that's all anyone should care about.

I'm guessing that Pat Jennings ceased to be a THFC legend when he moved to the Gooners too? Or you spent 3 years booing Gallas? Booed when we lifted the League Cup under George Graham in 1999? Sent Bentley death threats when he scored that 40 yard pearler against the scum? etc etc etc..

You do realise that, as well as Defoe, Gareth Bale was a childhood Arsenal fan?

Do you wish that we hadn't signed him?

If we're gonna spend 10m just to put him on the bench when we have Townsend.. what's the point? As much as I want to buy someone English this doesn't make sense to me

May i in advance excuse for my rather poor English, and try elaborate on what i was trying to say, by pointing out your rather black and white, understanding of what I've tried to say..

I know professional footballers are simple mercenaries. And I know Holtby is a long time Everton fan, and I don't hold any grudges against him, nor Defoe for being a fan.

Nor the long list of legends you mentioned.. I gave my two cents, you disagree. All fairness to that.

I'm just baffled by how offended you sound about my post, and how you can jump so fast to a conclusion about my, seemingly lack of knowledge for football

I see what you're saying. There's been a fair few reports that suggest Townsend wants regular football, though and I believe he's been pretty vocal about it himself? Maybe our new signings are going to impact upon what he deems as 'acceptable playing time', so he'll be seeking the exit door & will likely need replacing? I think he's probably worked his way above Lennon in the pecking order (offers more to the formation & style AVB is trying to implement), so I think Lennon may be first out of the door, but if Townsend isn't getting the minutes he feels he requires or deserves, fair play to the lad for wanting what's best for his career & seeking a new adventure elsewhere.

Not at all offended, mate. Just voicing my opinion about what you posted & believe. Nothing I said was outside of a response to what you said. All i did was give a few names who were once Gooners but became THFC players, or vice-versa. I was merely pointing out that I couldn't care less who a player supports or has played for. If he's class & better than anything we have in his position, I want him in a THFC shirt. It's THFC we support, not any individual player. As for the bit about Defoe, again it was just in response to what you said, due to the misconception that he's a loyal player. No offence meant to you whatsoever, Kohn (y)

And again, I mostly agree with what you're saying. I just don't rate Thomas Ince as a person. And as I stated, it's rather silly, I know. As a professional Footballer, his potentially really good.

Don't know how to describe it.. There are very few footballers I can't stand as individual footballers. But those i cant, I rather not see in a spurs shirt. Regardless of who they are supporting. But it just adds to it, if they do.

Whenever they are signed, I don't keep any grudges, just lower expectations.

True, I think he'll be pleasantly surprised though given his recent performances. He's in the starting 11 against Arsenal away today.. pretty big show of confidence from AVB let's see how he does.. I think Tom Ince will be exactly the same given Paul's comments yesterday. Why move and not get game time. I think a move to a Southampton or Villa would be best for him atm.

Ah well you've got me there. I've never met the kid, so am in no position whatsoever to be able to judge him as a person. I've seen very little of him as a player too, but if Levy/Baldini believe he's what they want at THFC, they know much more than I do & I'll back their decision & support the lad IF he ever pulls on a Spurs shirt.

Yep, Townsend should be extremely happy with the backing he's had from AVB, so far. However, I believe Lamela will be competing with him for that right side spot? It'll be hard to see how long Townsend will remain to be surprised by how much football he's getting. IF the reports are true about buying Ince and sending him back to Blackpool for this season, I think it'll be a decent bit of business. I'm going on the assumption that Lamela & Erikssen will see Townsend and Lennon getting significantly less playing time, so both are likely to seek the exit door sooner or later. That would open up a spot for Ince, no?
