Spurs chat used to be my sanctuary of sanity on this forum. A place to come share opinion and garner better knowledge of players, tactics and anything else to do with our beloved team.

So my question is:

WHY THE FUCK DO SOME OF YOU INSIST ON MOANING AND BEING NEGATIVE ALL THE FUCKING TIME!!!

I'm sure a lot of the regular and knowledgeable members will agree with me on this. Constant player slating, always looking for reasons to bitch and moan what happened? Does everyone's period sync up directly after any spurs game resulting in an all out bitching fest about how this player lacks this or this system doesn't work because of that blah blah bullshit. I'm sick of it.

Kindly grow a pair and get the fuck over our mistakes. Its time some of you so called fans man the fuck up and start looking at the positives of our club and game-play on the day or at least be constructive in your criticism instead of just moaning all the time as if you're opinion is word and nothing else matters. Open your mind to be educated and not so opinionated. You are slowly but surely ruining our reputation as fans and ruining our place in the forum to discuss and learn from the more experienced members.

We have ultra high expectations sometimes and when we watch a poor game (even the ones we win) some of us are disappointed and frustrated.

The moaning is part of letting off steam. Even I get sarcy about Defoe's penchant for the offside and have been known to express an opinion about it and if a player is having a really bad game, I want substitutions as badly as anyone else and hate to see the minutes tick away without improvement.

This is a great forum but it really sucks on match days, even if we win people still find something to moan about.

I can be a bit of a Debbie downer when I'm watching on TV or on SC after a loss so I don't mind people venting on here.

What really fucking annoys me, and something I can't get my head around, is people who are like that at WHL. Man up bitches.

There's a difference between constructive criticism and being passionate about the team and the moaning that has been taking place on the forum lately. We are all entitled to our opinion and emotions but that's no excuse to get out of hand and nitpick at things just to "blow off some steam".

Stop moaning

I have no problem with being critical of our performances (I've done it myself of late) as I think people are entitled to their opinion on the way we play which is still valid even if we are getting results. As you say though, it needs to be constructive otherwise it's just whingeing.

I do agree with you on the player slating though. That's where you get the most irrational "this players shit, that players shit" stuff, often based on nothing more than a dislike for a particular player, while other players shit doesn't stink.

It's a forum though and there is no rule that says only positive opinions are valid.

I think the worst part is when an SCer dislikes a particular player and looks for everything possible to criticise them for during a game. Dempsey came in for a lot of flak, even when a high percentage of his game was reasonable and even when he scored goals for example. There are others, still with us, whose good moves are ignored or overlooked but every mistake they make is pounced on.

No player is perfect and they all make mistakes but we should be looking for the positive in their game, not just the negative, and praising them when they do well as much as we criticise them for their errors.

There is a fine line between frustration and negativity and at times this can be misinterpreted by us all. I believe deep down we all want Spurs to be successful and all our players to perform as world beaters.

I'm sure the negativity is more a cry of frustration than bitchiness.

I agree 100%.

Ying and Yang my friend. I was not calling for out and out positivity especially when our team performances doesn't warrant it but I would like to see more balance in terms of negative and positive comments that actually have something to do with the squad and for justifiable reasons. Most of the negativity has just been bitching and no real reasoning behind it. A forum is an open place but it needs to be kept rational when talking about both positive and negative aspects of our team.

a natural consequence of our higher status I'm afraid. A few years ago we'd have been satisfied with a draw against chelsea and seventh or eighth in the league and at this stage we'd be generally neutral waiting to see how the season panned out now however, every game drops us off the top or puts us back in the race, the importance of every game has increased along with the tension.
Early days yet but we'll learn to handle it over the next few years.
personally I think we are too slow and ponderous going forward but that will change, at the moment we are getting defence, midfield and possession right with all the various player options.
Still lots of players learning about each other.

No don't agree . Been on here 8 years there's no surge in negativity . There has been dozens of threads over the years saying exactly what the OP says here tho . Tbh I find the moaners about the ' moaners' the most tedious of all

We should separate the Match thread from this . To me that is a place to let off steam in the actual game . People get nervous and agitated and should be allowed to express instant irrationalities there imo . Clever dicks are always going in there in the quiet of the aftermath to have a go at the gobby ones who wrote nutty stuff during the game . Think that is stupid meself .

Then there is the analysis of the matches that takes place in more depth ,the look at possible improvements no matter how well the match has gone . If the OP is having a go at this then I doubly disagree . In fact it could be argued the OP is trying to censor comment that doesn't agree with his opinion . Totally anti what a footie forum is about .

SO my advice is take a chill pill , get your head around the fact that there are plenty of kiddies in here ,stop taking them so seriously ,don't go in a thread with a title that looks like it may upset your fragile sensibilities .

Its only a friggin' footie forum on the net f'gawds sake !

What happened to the chat room? Now there was a place that was a roller coaster!! One line crying that we're playing boring football and then we score and the next line claiming we have the best team in the league!!

i don't think it's just Spurs supporters Afri Coy. I'm sure if you were to read other team forums you'd find similar crap

People can discuss what they like as long as it's with in the forum rules. If every one agreed on every thing then I wouldn't bother coming here.
