He does, and the agent he has the most hatred for......... drumroll.............Sky Andrew who coincidentally was Defoe's agent when all this was going down or at least right up until this particular deal happened when we used someone else to broker the deal.
So to not have to deal with Andrew, he used a banned agent?

You couldn't make that up

You have to think that if this happened with the Defoe transfer that if they really dig deep around that time a lot of transfers we did could be the same. In short, this could be an enormous shit show.

I presume that all stemmed from the Campbell situation?

Yeah, if they're going to start digging into every club like this, they'll all get points deducted and every club will get relegated! 🤣

At the end of the day it happens to be our club where they have found the evidence so it will have to be fully investigated.

People need to get their tinfoil hats off here. No one has been searching through past records trying everything they could to uncover something shady. It's come to light in a completely different legal case between Defoe and his then actual agent who he was legally contracted to at the time.

Honestly some of you sound just like the Chelsea and City fans you complain about every day trying to mentally navigate round the fact we may have broken the rules. So what if they've done more, blah blah blah. If we are in the wrong we have to accept it otherwise we are just like them!

See my post above! 😂 Apparently he’s just been on TalkSPORT with Lawton. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

I think most of us are.

If we broke the rules, then we have to take it.

Just trying to get my head around what is proportionate in this case and this has certainly been done by other clubs.

If it's found we knowingly used/paid an unlicensed agent it most definitely is something to worry about.

I'm not sure anyone's wearing a tin hat, or a tinfoil one either.
As I said previously, if we've broken the rules then we've just got to suck it up and take it on the chin.
Hopefully it was just this one time and isn't something we try to make a habit of.

If I am reading the summary posted by @bubble07 correctly - that legal dispute between Defoe and his agent took place in 2010...

SO, why is it coming to light now?

Yeah noone has said anything 'tinhat'.

What I think is probably going through people's minds is that an offence like this, whilst it warrants a punishment, is it anything close to Chelsea and their 150 rule breaches for 69 academy players.

Or what City did in UEFA?

What real advantage did we get from breaking this rule?

It's not like we broke FFP to give us a major advantage with a better squad than others etc. We could have signed Defoe without breaking any rules.

I think talk of relegation or a points deduction would be hugely disproportionate.

That's all I am saying.

Like my dad just said.

"What club doesn't have skeletons in the closet?"

and

"Where are Arsenal getting all their cash from when they were claiming poverty just 3 years ago"

I think if the authorities were to really dig into othr clubs dealings they would find worse.

If we are guilty and there is strong evidence, I imagine a trasnfer ban would be most likely?

I mean Chelsea did far more rule breaking when they got their transfer ban.
My guess would certainly be a transfer ban and a fine. Not sure we'd be deducted points but maybe they will throw the book at us to. Of course this could get pretty bad for Levy also if he knew what he was doing ....

Likely a big fine and a possible points deduction unfortunately. Well if it's going to happen I'd much rather it happens this season. Just get it over and done with. I'd rather that than a transfer ban which would be catastrophic for us in the middle of a full squad rebuild.
