If anyone is wondering why I disagreed with their posts about formation, it's because I thought it was a clear 343 in possession and 442 when out of possession. And it worked. Not sure why Ricky got so much criticism in this thread, but I guess even in thirty pages people still need to criticise someone, but I thought he did really well in his role. Was interesting that the Argentine commentators were talking about Sonny finding it harder to find his role in this set up., but as many have said, even he looked better than he has for most of the season, and really should have scored. And a bit weird to say this after Jose and Conte ball, but that was a very pleasing clean sheet.

It's relevant, because the last 3 games we went behind big time and yesterday we were focusing on being more solid which may have made it boring.

Not even making it an argument. I'm just pointing out that it being boring yesterday was actually a positive.

Thought it very much had an end of season feel to it with two teams with little to play for. Nice to see us more solid and not camped on the edge of our area for long periods though.

Passing wasn’t great and felt the CM was our biggest issue today. We really need to add an attacker with some creativity and move away from the PEH and Skipp double pivot going into next season.

Considering the mess the team was in not that long ago I thought we looked in control for large periods and the performance was a step in the right direction.

My sixth and final game at the TH this season and every one of them has been a win! f I had gone to them all we might be in title contention!

I enjoyed the game and the determination our players showed to win this game and protect the clean sheet. Palace are no mugs and might have smelt blood if we were not about our business. Props to Emerson Royal for largely pocketing a very dangerous Zaha, Clement Lenglet for the rugby tackle on Zaha which made me laugh a lot, Porro for some banging deliveries including the assist for the winner, Kane for netting the only chance he had all game, Romero for being imperious not impetuous and Forster for being no nonsense between the sticks. Well done Ryan Mason, I like what you are doing with this team- the Royal positional change and dropping of ED was brilliant and made our defence so much more mobile and solid.

I was very happy to see an ordinary game! My feeling was that we don't always have to be involved in eye catching high scoring affairs with our defensive catastrophes on show to the whole world. I was happy for us to stabilise. These last few matches have been awful on the old ticker!
