I just talked to my friend who works for the Swedish National Space Agency, and the ball from Sons shot has now left earth and is heading for Uranus.

Perhaps.

Thing is, we've gone out again, to a very average side. Probably the worst side we've been knocked out by in recent years. We are better than Gent, no doubt. We have to be, surely?

Would like to think so but tonight's result suggests otherwise does it not.

Everything annoyed me tonight. Mainly because I was enjoying the game but Alli, poor defending and incredibly terrible refereeing spoilt it

I agree with you - performance was good and we were unlucky but seriously stats don't win us matches and how many times are we going to have great stats but no results from it, fed up of hearing Poch using this excuse, let alone us fans!

To be fair. That's all Poch can do as a manager. If we're creating chances and bossing the game he's doing his job. Putting the chances away is down to the players not the manager. Some days even the best players miss the chances. I've little doubt that Poch does finishing drills in every training session.

I missed the away leg so don't know how bad we played out there, but tonight had the ref got his decisions right we would of won that.

yes Alli's challenge was a deserved straight red, but had he given the foul in the 1st place Alli doesn't get sent off. the era for the 1st goal, era just before the 2nd, and just about giving them every slight touch where they fell down.

oh well could be worst, you could be a Leicester fan, Ranieri takes them to an impossible dream before a ball is kicked. qualified in the CL group, even though struggling in the league, and they sack him:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I am sorry but I was serious about my new plan at half time, I was just being pragmatic and realistic, I'm not happy I turned out to be right, I'm probably just getting old and grumpy. I want a trophy but it was never going to be this one.

Whoever finds the excuse the we are jinxed at Wembley, we did win a trophy at Wembley in 2008. Our finishing tonight was abysmal and that is the main reason why we did not qualify. Dele needs to grow up and stop making such stupid fouls. Our only chance of glory is the FA Cup this season.

I think that your overall summary of the club is harsh. I don't think that we are far off where I would expect us to be overall but I am really f*cked off with the result tonight. Not offence to our opposition but even they must be surprised how its turned out.

Until I see a change I'm gonna keep thinking that. Think it's something like we've been in Europa league 9 of last 10 seasons and not gonna past 1/4 final. Not won FA cup for 26 years. Had a mild outside chance of league once in my lifetime and didn't even get close to leiecester. Year after year we bottle our little north London title tussle even if 10-12 points ahead of them.

Right now we've got a very good team and manager but there is something seriously wrong with the mentality and feel of the whole club. I genuinely believe if our players were in Man Utd shirts they'd have won the Europa league this year. This failure when it matters has gone on way too long and has become so pathetic.

It's been a fullmoon on the SC matchday threads for the last month or so hasn't it ....

Hand wringing aside, if you wanted us to win the Europa, that dream can be filed under 'there's always next season'

Onwards and upwards gents!

COYS!

Want to know a little more about the referees from both legs. Some defo strange stuff over both ties. They might just be incompetent.... But this is football.

We weren't in the title race last season if we look back at it without any emotion. Closest we got over the last ten games was what? 5 points? It was all over with 4/5 games to go.

We haven't achieved what the famous Newcastle "legends" did. We have yet to even Mach their bottle!!! They at least had the bollocks to go top in a title race and reach a final here and there.
We weren't in a title race, we went top when we were beating Arsenal before trying to defend. Was it a one horse race back when we were level with Leicester before we lost to West Ham?

With ten games to go we were within 3 points of them. Worth noting that Man Utd were 4 points behind newcastle after 28 games.

I never said we were legends nor did I say we were as bad as them but the original point is,

I think this period of history will go down similar to how newcastle are remembered if we dont win anything soon; having a great team in the 90's but ultimately didnt win anything

At this level we should never have to talk about a ref. They should not be called bad and they should not be called good, because for one to be called good means another is not doing his job.

I hope the amount of energy we expended on that doesn't cost us on Sunday, especially considering it was for fuck all in the end..

well those hungry for a trophy that moan on this site about Poch not putting a strong team out, will at least be happy we decided to go for the cup, but will moan like hell if we look lethargic on Sunday and the result doesn't go our way
