Have to say that we really lack a bit of creativity and a nimble player. Look at that Portuguese side and they have lots of players comfortable on the ball. We get the ball to the front and Nketiah just isn’t good enough on the ball (yes, he scores goals against the minnows). Every time it goes to his feet he ends up losing the ball.

Eze for me is the one we should have built the side round, he has the ability to be that player for us who sparked the whole team into life. Also I wouldn’t have played Davies as I think Gallagher is a much better version of that type of player, plus Gallagher does well at driving the ball forward.

No way a team this full of talent should perform this badly. Switzerland and Portugal look to be the clear best 2 sides in the group but England have been toothless in both matches.

Also, I like Nketiah but he doesn't strike me as captain material at all.

It's the same problem England have had for years.
Stick a bunch of players on the pitch and hope they can run through the other team.

I just can't see what we are trying to do with or without the ball

Whoever made the decision to keep Boothroyd on should also be fired. Awful decision making from the FA to keep him in charge for this long.

Finished. And hopefully boothroyd's tenure will be too.
Whoever made the decision to keep Boothroyd on should also be fired. Awful decision making from the FA to keep him in charge for this long.

I do wonder what the expectations and plans regarding the U21's are. It can't be to develop players for the national team as the club teams are primarily responsible for developing the talent and the national teams get to pick and promote players who perform well domestically. In essence, Boothroyd has the perfect job. He can blame the lack of training time on the pitch with the players as the reason the team lacks a game plan or style of play ( though other countries don't seem to have that problem ) and if a player who featured for the U21's does get promoted to the NT, he can take some credit for that ( even though that player's domestic form probably earned him the NT call-up). I don't get the impression the FA are too concerned about the U21's and poor showing in tournaments and will probably give Boothroyd a pat on the back for trying his best.

Review of the spurs boys :

Tanganga 7 grew into the game. Looked uncomfortable with the ball and in his defencive positioning in the 1st half but in the second made 3 great runs with the ball and also did well not to give away a penalty. Kept getting the ST underlaping but I guess not his fault. I don't think he's comfortable on the ball enough as a RB and should be tried CB but he did well compared to others in the 2nd half.

Skipp 7 1st half didn't lose the ball, looked twice the player of Davies. However 2nd half looked nackered should have got a yellow and lost the ball when entering the final third. I'm not sure he'd be good enough to be a ball playing CM next to Hojbjerg , and overhyped in that regard if we want to break teams down but certainly a very tidy player who Boythroyd kept on as a DM even when we were chasing the game and needed a more attacking midfield.

Sessegnon 6 didn't see any real improvement from when I've seen him before but then again none of our wingers were threatening. Saying that Madueke looks much more nimble and dangerous cutting onto his left foot just lacked the final shot/pass, would prefer him on our books as a winger but Sess I think is being moulded as a LB. His brother did look very good at fullback though particularly going forwards (did we get the right Sess..).

In summary our boys did okay, much better than Tom Davies anyway.

Hope it's 433 and not McNeil at LWB again.

Looks infinitely better without Tom Davies in the line-up. I thought Davies work well with Skipp but he is really ineffective. Hopefully Eze and Mcneil on the wings and Jones as the central attacking mid.

Some serious talent in midfield with Skipp, Gallagher and Curtis Jones (if they don't make the mistake of wasting him on the wing).
