Palacios is arguably our most important player, should we buy the whole Honduran squad? Just because someone comes from a certain nation doesn't mean they are equal in talent to the rest of that nation!

I'm British, but i'm no Steven Gerrard! The leagues arguably have some relevance, but Gomes and Gilberto came from Holland and Germany respectively.

Also, Gomes is a good keeper. He will prove that this season.

I didnt say the whole squad did I? Why is harry going for that honduran defender then? And dont tell me he scouted him or summin. He just likes palacios and asked if he knew any other hondurans that might be good.

i know gomes is a good keeper. just pointing out that both are brazillians and both cost us games with mistakes. Heck they even teamed up together and made a joint mistake in the uefa cup!

the original comment i wrote was meant half serious and half joke. chill.

I'm sure that he is. It's just laughable that people who hadn't even heard of him a week ago are making such truly absurd statements about how good he's going to be for us.

I really hope we sign him, but only so brasil_spur has someone else to put in his banner now Gilberto has gone. He really could be the missing link that makes that banner really competitive you know.

i'd rather we signed PROVEN players. If you're gonna sign unproven player from south america, it better be a cheap one.

We've got a settled squad at the mo and we cant keep saying "what if palacios gets injured" and all the other "what ifs". Liverpool are the main example and who do united have if rooney gets injured? Chelsea if lampard gets injured? They dont have anybody that can offer the same qualities to their teams. We have decent replacements and that should be enough. If someone PROVEN becomes available, then fine. But there isnt much point in signing an unproven player for such a huge price when we are doing fine as we are without even using many squad players yet.

What's worse is that people who haven't seen him are judging him of one or two games or off Youtube.

With his work permit issues this might be another and a lot more expensive case of Defendi.

Icant find any vids of this guy. I just hope he is an exciting young player. Huddlestone, Jenas and Palacios have plenty of PL experience, so there are no worries having a young player like this come in.

It was suggested to me that the problem with Defendi (apart from his being nowhere near good enough) was that he had a hooky Italian passport which we only found out about after we'd done the deal. We should be able to get the special dispensation Arsenal and United got for Denilson and Anderson.

Just as a supplement to those wondering about whether the fee quoted was in Reais or UK Pounds. Foreign exchange transactions into Brazil are usually done in US$ via Brazil's Central Bank. I think Spurs Forex request goes from their Bank to the Bank of England then to Brazil's Central Bank then to Internacional's bank. At least that's the route my money took when I moved to Brazil back in 2006.

So is this looking unlikely now? we look a bit thread bare in central midfield suddenly now without the option of Luka there as cover...
