Missed the game. Can someone give me a brief run down of the game please
Pretty equal affair, I'd say that Watford had the slightly better chances (including a pen that Gazza saved).

Positives
Aurier (I'm not a fan but not too bad today)
Lo Celso looked lively
Tanganaga - didn't fall to pieces when receiving an early booking - clearly young and raw but not hugely phased by it all
Gazza's penalty save
Almost scored, just needed the ball to be another quart inch over the line
Edit - new game came on and managed to either shit himself or get injured

Negatives
Lack of a decent midfield
Lamela disappointing
Son disappointing
Moura disappointing but did his trick of running through players, losing the ball but somehow still coming away with it
Eriksen was again our best attacking player and was only on for the last 20 because we were desperate

It was in a word average

Eriksen did not put in a 10 for effort thats a fact. Did not go into 50/50 once. Shying away from every challenge.
I didn’t want to even mention him. There was one point where he covered his face when a ball was there to be headed. I’m sure of it.

Just heard a commentator say that the goal line decision system ruling Lamela‘a chance not a goal by a millimeter is technology working at its best. Same people who say technology ruling someone offside by a millimeter (another objective decision) is ruining the spirit of the game by denying goals... I lose my mind sometimes.

He does, but he also gets slated for it and honestly I'm not sure he has been as bad a Deeney was today
Kane’s not built like a Russian shotputter, Deeney is.

Deeney also looks like he’s been launching the shot with his face, but that’s another story...

People saying that is a good result is blowing my mind. Watford are shit.
It's not a good result but having said that the impatience and panic from some is unbelievable. There is no magic bullet and if there's going to be improvement it's going to be over a much longer time period. We've got a new manager who's been here 2 months with barely any time to work on the training ground and our injury list is extensive. In spite of this I still feel we're showing subtle improvement. The team look tighter at the back and the players are visibly working harder. Ask yourself this, Bayern aside which was a dead rubber have we really been soundly beaten by any side yet under Jose? In the Chelsea game I feel switching off from a short corner and Gazzaniga's moment of madness cost us. There's certainly been no 7-2 losses followed by a 3-0 against Brighton so the mentality is getting better.

Just accept that we'll be Europa League or worse this season and it gets a lot easier. Vertonghen will go, Eriksen will be gone and Jose should have at least some funds available to shape the squad a bit more in his image.

We are far from the finished article, but I do think we are slowly now heading in the right direction after our standards were slipping badly under Pochettino. Everyone just needs to give it time ffs.

I think if we'd had him (Deeney) up front instead of Moura we might well have won. As ever I think it's different when it's one of your own.

Two crucial differences for me. One, the offside technology is good, but not yet objective - it isn't perfect at measuring the frame at which the ball left the boot, and I don't think it can ever be perfect at measuring where the body ends and the arm starts. Secondly, it takes a substantial amount of time, therefore leaving fans cautious to celebrate, compared to the goaline tech being instant.

Hairs-breadth between us and victory.
That line looks more than
regulation thickness
to me
and all other
unbiased observers.

I thought we were the better team. I thought it was a better performance than many recently. I see how and what Jose is trying to do. For me we should have won but that ain't how it works.

If we didn't get the two penalties, I fail to see how it could have been given to them. Gazz is a good penalty saver.
