They didn't. Just one of the many complete myths that get spun out on here.

They managed to sell a load of cloggers for double their value and did well with their replacements.

They did some great player trading so to speak. Still, Van Dijk aside, nothing we couldn’t have sniffed around.
Just didn’t have the scouts to spot them or the desire to land them.

We had chances of Wijnaldum and Mane.

All started going wrong when Dembele left. I mean seriously wrong. January 2019. We’ve been shit since then basically

if he had stayed and been fit for it, I think we’d have won in Madrid.

Still, the £11m was nice. Enough to pay off Poch and co!

Dembele always made us tick. So underrated but unfortunately his body started giving up on him. Would cost us about 100m to replace him properly.

We've spent years poaching their targets - Siggy, Dele, Dempsey being just a few.

It's either typical that the ones we didn't go for came out well for them, or just the way we used them. Klopp is evidently better at building a team imo.

True. Thing is, nurse him through the last season and play him whenever possible and then let him go for nothing in May.

Undoubtedly. He’s a clear level above Poch

He’s barely played in China though. I think he was broken and could just about rouse himself for games.

Good time to say again that I don't get the statement of fans needing us to win a trophy. Like what happens if and when we do? Take the CL final, I got up the next day and was over it. If we'd won I'd have been the same - nice evening having a couple of beers celebrating whilst watching the coverage, opportunity to crow a bit via WhatsApp banter with mates, but I'd personally get up the next day and my life would have gone on. It's like some of you have notions of basking in eternal glory for the rest of time on winning something.

I want to win, I have the highest standards imaginable, but I live the process because that in football/sport/life is what you experience. So I place much more importance on seeing 90 minutes of football to my tastes and what my beliefs are. I know 99.9% of fans just go on and live for the result but not me. Currently my opinions have to be put on hold by and large, we're in a bad patch and Mourinho needs a bit of time to bed in and be judged. I'm likely not to agree with him, and brace yourself for criticism in future months/years, but we shall see......

Also I get the impression that a lot of fans see it as like a computer game, judging on the amount of comments I see about linear and constant progress etc. Like you complete one level, then the next, and so on until the game is completed. Like we're supposed to win the FA Cup, then the League, then the CL, then win everything, then finally do the perfect season (and also, financially: don't forget 100 million net spend, then 200m next year, then 300m.....), and that football will just stop at that point. Game over. Those with that sort of outlook, suggest need to get with reality, no club can say they have control on steady progress and a constant trajectory and things can and very often do change every 5 mins.

It's because some fans are fed up with their mates taking the piss out of them.
It's the only stick to beat us with...rival fans have literally nothing else.

That's another one I don't get tbh.

a) for me and my mates at least, football is but one thing to rib someone about. Being fat, bald, lovelife stuff, 20+ years of being prats doing retarded stuff and our worst moments, there is enough else that comes up beyond football.
b) I take it almost everyone posting on here is aged 20 and beyond, maybe far beyond. You cant have made it that far in life and not be totally conditioned to Spurs being really shit, letting you down and developed armour plating to any banter ? Anyone who hasn't, well...……..

And you my friend

Fuck the stadium I want glory
Yes but do you that is less likely with the new stadium or more likely?
My personel opinion is that a trophy hasn't been number one priority, it's been a priority, a want of course, but the stadium and building up the club has been the first priority but now that all changes, now trophies are the aim, the whole point.
