Realistically City, Chelsea, Liverpool and United are all quite far ahead of us right now.

Think we'll be fighting with Leicester, Arsenal and potentially Villa/Leeds/Everton for the top 6 places and I have faith that with a good transfer window we can finish 5th fairly comfortably.

Would like to see us take the domestic cups seriously again and hopefully we'll be able to heavily rotate in the ECL and still make it to the semis or so before getting the big hitters out. Good chance at a trophy, even if it's one we'll get taken the piss out of for.

Probably the most pessimistic I've been for years. We've appointed our 6th choice manager, our talisman seemingly wants out, lost Bales output, Dier, Winks & Sissoko are still here and all off the back of a massively disappointing season and England losing the final.
Hopefully Nuno surprises me but I just don't see us getting any higher than last season

I'll wait to see how the transfers pan out in the next couple of weeks but will cast a vote before the season starts. Currently though, I think we'll be competing for 5th to 8th but with some updates in defence and depending on how the striker situation goes, I may go crazy and go for top 4

I would expect Nuno to go all out for a trophy though so I reckon decent cup runs on all fronts

I voted Top 4. While I feel 1st is too wishful, i doubt we will be consistent enough.

However, I don't necessarily feel that the four that most will predict to finish above us (Man C, Liv, Man U & Chel) will all have that consistent a season themselves. Especially with Covid likely to see some players isolating at random points.

This is coupled by the eternal optimism that Harry will stay (K not W!), we will get the defenders we need in and Nuno will provide the man management, coaching and organisation that Jose failed to provide last year. A year that a relatively small number of additional wins would have seen us in the top 4.

Go on… what do you reckon this coming season will bring?

I’m pretty optimistic, I’m going for top 4 and a semi final.
Nice thread! I went for top four and a cup!! Dont know why but i feel ridiculously optimistic. Everyone's been so down on the club on Nuno that I'm reminded of when Pochettino was appointed.

Gonna hold fire on this one, waiting instead to see how the CB recruitment goes, and whether we can snaffle a CM who can get the ball moving a bit quicker.

Currently I feel 6/7 with a decent cup run along the way.

Thanks. Ultimately it’s what happens when a bunch of blokes start kicking the round thing about on 15 August that we all actually care about after all ?

Far too early to say. Bump the thread a few days before the season kicks off, and I might have an opinion on where we should be looking at.

Well we haven't even got a defence in place yet and possibly won't by the start of the season who knows.
I think it will be similar position to last season in terms of final standings so for me we finish 6th -8th that seems about right.

Depends on signing for me. We need a good leader at the back if that doesn’t happen it doesn’t really matter on anything else. Also dele, GLC and Ndombele need show a lot more, we need 20 league goal between them to add to around 40 between Son and Kane. There’s a lot of ifs atm things could go either way.

I'm feeling reasonably optimistic - which surprises me given how I felt during and immediately after the protracted manager search. Regardless of transfers in or out, I think we'll be far better to watch than we were last season. Much fitter; much more aggressive; much more positive.

And I think we'll see a slight improvement in points and finishing position: 5th-6th with 65-70 points.

I was tempted to predict even better than that but, of the teams that finished in the top half last season, only us and Everton are likely to be bedding in both a new manager and a significant number of signings. So it might take the first half of the season before we get fully up to speed.

It's a rebuild, so who knows. But even with what we have now we're capable of getting back into the EL spaces. I think 5th has to be the target.

5th - 6th is as high as we can realistically aim for without knowing who we bring in.

I am very worried with no Bale about, how creative we will be/who's gonna make up for his goals and it all falling on Kane/Son to do everything going forward yet again.

Need a season to stabilise
under the new set-up
and to incorporate new signings
especially as most links
are with players from over there.
Settle for 7th and a cup run
and more entertaining positive football.
Quicker ball required
and some youth
in the squad
