The thing for me is that Ronaldo has been relatively injury free where as Bale has a long list of long time injuries and these take some getting over as mostly the injuries are not impact injuries but muscle related and recovery can take months .
Souness and Keane are making a case to replace pinky and perky . I would have liked the welsh bloke doing the match commentary ( his name escapes me at this moment ) to have been in on the Souness / Keane / spat I am sure he would have put these dipsticks in their place .

As another poster said, comparing anyone to Ronaldo in terms of fitness and longevity is pointless. The guy is a freak of nature. Gareth has had far worse to deal with at Madrid - this is tame compared to that but Souness does seem to have some weird agenda at the moment.

This is painful viewing. Souness and Keane so critical of Bale for no reason. Why Sky have these guys as pundits is beyond me!

All pundits are shocking. Maybe the worst are the players who were truly world class and still see themselves as they once were, looking down on lesser mortals.

Can't quite agree, Hoddle is usually unbiased when doing punditry on our games. On the whole G Neville is one of the better ones. Souness and Keane were never world class. Keane should have been jailed for his horrendous tackle on Harland (don't know how to spell it) but because he did it on the pitch it's just a red card. I've seen Souness stamp on players. Sky think these two are worth air time.

They made silly /career ending mistakes (luckily the latter didn't materialise) on the pitch but both were tremendous footballers, in the wired world of football both had a brief connection with Tottenham. I believe Keane supported Tottenham when he as a kid and Souness had trails. The format needs to change at present the insight is far to bias.

Souness actually played for us (one European sub appearance).

Bill Nic signed him, way back in 1968.

I remember arguing on here a few years back that Keane was a world class player, back in his day.

I still believe that, but it is funny how these debates seem to cycle around

This is not about us but it is about a pundit and on sky sports Merson has been going on a long time about not wanting xtra time as he wants to get home to have a sleep . This bloke gives commentators a bad name he is acting as if he dont want to be there . I have news for him we dont want him there either. I then turn over to BT and the co commentator says to Rio Ferdinand " I bet you are worried about getting home with this extra time he replies " I am happy to stay all night to watch this brilliant football" or words to that effect but the difference in attitude to the game is a galaxy apart .

Just how angry Souness looked was crazy, red faced and I swear he looks like a mini t-rex peering out of one eye at you

Got a lot of time for Rio Ferdinand. Just seems a genuine guy who loves his football.

Achieved pretty much everything in his playing days, but gone through so much more in his personal life.

Not that he had to win me over, but his celebration (with Hoddle) when Moura fired in that winner against Ajax was just pure IMPARTIAL football joy.

Plus I personally don’t want them to hide their team colours. I don’t want them to all be the same... robotic

I just want them to be able to give a balanced view of the game they are watching. Rio is great, he’s clearly team united and so he should be. But like you describe, his reaction to the spurs winner against Ajax was great.

Ian Wright is another good example... he’s obviously arsenal. But he’s fair.

Chris Coleman was excellent on co-commentary. When he was introduced I thought 'Where the fuck have they dredged up an ex Palace player from to skew the commentary?' but as it turned out he was 100% objective and fair.
