If harry was here would we be better off right now, have played free flowing 4-4-2 on the edge of your seats stuff?

I ask because many fans believe things would of stayed the same and we would be comfortable in 4th/3rd . My personal view is we would of lost at old trafford, but given some of the lower teams better games. I think defoe would still be unintelligent ( i feel he offers a little more this season) and we probably would of not had many new players.

Thoughts?

Redknapp was never destined to stay beyond last season - a lot of our activity was probably reflective of that, hence it's an impossible question.

Although hypothetically, what players might he have brought in? I suppose if he were here this would be less of a transitional season, ie. in lieu of Moutinho style signings he'd have grabbed some veterans to fill in for the departees and we'd try to plough on. Berbatov? Joe Cole?

Although he'd probably get more from Dempsey and Sigurdsson, so with Dembele replacing Modric, we mightn't have needed anyone else.

basically yes I am asking hypothetically, Were in need of such a drastic change so quickly tactically and with our players. We have only been good for a few seasons. I think we still will have seen verts possibly kept rose and maybe just maybe not lost rafa.

The problem isn't Andre and the system, the problem is the players.

Modric and Rafa gone, Benny, Kaboul, Móusa and Parker injured. That's six incredible players, plus the legend that is Ledley King. No managerial inspiration or tactics in the world could compensate for that missing quality. You can't make chicken soup out of chicken shit.

If he was in charge we'd be in a parallel universe bitching and moaning about an inability to close out games and wondering why we can't convert a good squad on paper into a good team on the field.

We'd've replaced Modric, Rafa and King with Joe Cole, Bellamy and Rio Ferdinand; and could easily be carrying on our 4 points from 12 games form from the spring.

This exactly.
In Hindsight selling Modric and VDV and not getting in adequate replacements might not have been such a good idea.

Where would we be if we appointed Pep Guardiola? Or re-appointed Christian Gross? Both equally pointless questions.

And I'm so glad we never lost 5-2 to Arsenal under Harry Redknapp - and we never lost 1-0 at home to Wigan... and never played shit against teams like Norwich at home, and lost 2-1. Would make this thread awkward I suppose, because everything was so perfect under Harry.

Where would we be if we brought Berbatov back and you know Harry would have,Its a NO BRAINER Harry would say.Watching Berbatov v Sunderland Sunday was so enjoyable, the man is still Class and could have played in VDV roll if needed and made us a lot better to watch this season.

I honestly can't see how it would be much difference with Redknapp to AVB to be honest. We'd have probably seen Dawson play alongside Gallas but we would have still been without King, Modric (who was leaving even with Redknapp here), VDV (who left because of his wife not because of any issue he had with Spurs so would have gone anyway), Kaboul, BAE, Parker and Adebayor would have still had the same fitness issues. All seven of those players were regulars for us in that great run we had last year but no team in the world can cope with the loss of seven of it's best players. AVB has also had to deal with the loss of one of the guys brought in, in Dembele.

Would we have played 4-4-2 under Harry? Maybe but with Defoe and Dempsey up front because Ade was injured/unfit/sick for a lot of the games so far. Harry might have been able to get more out of players like Dempsey and Sigurdsson in the short term as he definitely had a way to inspire players and I think both would have been players that Harry admired but for a team that relied quite heavily on individual brilliance last year I think the lack of creative genius would have still been missed. In fact when our better players hit a slump in form the second half of last year we simply had no other answers, and we aren't doing worse than then.

I think under the conditions AVB has had to coach in he hasn't done so badly and I think in the long term he will be a success. He is surely the kind of coach who is going to enjoy the amazing new training facility we have and I certainly thing the performances will get better. Unfortunately our season has been hit so hard that we're going to have to pull out all the stops to get close to the top 4.

Its never about results for me, its how Spurs play I am more interested in and as a season ticket holder I have not enjoyed this season so far, we have played some terrible football.

Harry wouldn't have taken the EL seriously so some players like Verts wouldn't have played so many games. He didn't play (or very rarely) 4-4-2 so without VDV who knows how he would have set up? He wouldn't have tried to hold on to a lead so we probably would have lost at Southampton and MU. As for Berbatov surely Levy wouldn't have sanctioned that signing and it does seem he wanted to rejoin BMJ. So the footie might have been more adventurous but it's doubtul we'd have anymore points on the board - probably less and everyone would still be moaning about the manager;)
