Who do you think genuinely cares?

Definitely Walker. He's a fiery and passionate type that hates losing. He usually looks properly pissed off when we lose, and despite some mental deficiencies on the pitch, he usually always busts a gut up and down the right flank.

All the younger one involved in the first team squad, probably because they have been at the club for a number of years and also because they are ecstatic to play and happy to even be on the bench. They aren't sitting there brooding about why they haven't been picked and genuinely support the team without most of the politics and shit.

Rose is a little contentious, fair enough. he does have his moments where he seems very passionate and animated; then again so does Ade.

I guess what I'm really saying is how many other clubs have players like Vertonghen, Paulinho, Lennon (though to be fair he runs a lot) Adebayor, etc.? They're reaching... and I do not say this lightly, Pavlyuchenko-levels of laziness and lethargy.

I suspect most of them only give a shit about their win bonuses. Not just Spurs, but top-flight footballers in general. I guess the longer a player is at a club, the closer they may feel towards the history and the fans, but for the most part I think they only care about themselves.

It's got to the stage where, when I see players running to join in with the celebrations after a goal, I imagine them to be following orders from their agents to get close to the goal scorer in order to boost their chances of positive media exposure. Or they're just happy to get some extra petty cash.

Ultimately (with the exception of a handful), the only real passion is probably a product of a good team spirit (which is probably why it has been so lacking this season). You could airlift the entire Oil Money FC team to Monaco and they'd celebrate with the same amount of enthusiasm. Same with Suarez. He wanted the Prem winners medal for his own career stats. I doubt he would care if that was gained with Liverpool, Chelsea, Stoke, or whoever. Just as long as they paid his wages.

Look at Scott Parker. He's a guy that would fight tooth and nail for whatever team he's in. I happen to think that he's quite a genuine guy that understands what a football club means to the supporters, but that passion comes from his own values, rather than any real emotion towards whatever club he happens to be at.

I doubt many players at Spurs right now really care about the club. It's a difficult thing to judge. From my own perspective I never felt much attachment to Bale, because I always felt he saw us as a stepping-stone (same as Modric, Berbatov, and to a large extent, Vertonghen and Eriksen). VDV on the other hand came in seemed to 'get it' (his passion in the NLDs for example), but I still think that's more of a reflection of the type of guy he is, rather than him falling in love with Spurs in particular.

It's why we were so lucky to have Ledley King playing for us. A genuine world class footballer that cared about the club, and could communicate that passion to the other players. He was our 'Gerrard' in that respect.

Some people seem to confuse "passion for the club" and "gets wound up with little provocation" easily

Loving the club is one thing but some don't seem bothered about loosing, I played sport at a really high level and loosing hurt so badly I don't see the hatred of loosing I don't see fight and desire. Liverpool vs Chelsea the Chelsea players fought so hard, Liverpool vs spurs Liverpool out fought us ( and played us) west ham out fought us, we need the Wilson placious, Scott Parker fight back in our team. We need to a) care b) get in the other teams faces fight for every ball don't give them an inch. If we do we would have got champs league this year. I don't see any fight in most of our players. Kaboul, Dawson loris, Kane, Holtby, and Eriksen I think walker has given up at times, rose seemed to care at the start of the season.

Seeing the passion from Gerrard, Suarez, etc. even in a massive capitulation and loss made me think. Passion, caring, trying, that above-all attitude of the team over everything seems to be missing from the majority of our squad. Who do you think has the correct mental, intangible aspects and who doesn't?

For me, Daws, Walker, Kaboul, Sandro, Lloris and Rose have to be on the list for "caring" and "passionate," but who else? Honestly.

Rose, I could not agree less with. In the current crop Sandro Dawson Lloris and Townsend (After being knocked out Andros still wanted to get back on the pitch), Van Der Vaart cares more for Spurs then the rest of the current squad and he no longer plays for us.

Rose cares? Ha, I needed a good laugh this morning. I know for a fact he doesn't- last summer on holiday he was quite openly telling the guy who sits next to me at Spurs, who was staying at the same hotel, that he hates Spurs and just wants to leave and go back north.

Rose cares? Haha, very good.

Ekotto cares and we've hung him out to dry.

For all the talk of his moodiness etc, I think Vertonghen cares. He's disenchanted but perhaps precisely for the reason that he cares. After the final whistle v Sunderland a year ago nobody seemed more hurt than him.

While true I don't see a lot of non-Spurs matches....I can't recall ever seeing players dodge out of the way of free kicks like the 2 arsewipes vs Wham .

Busting a gut for the team is something that we don't do consistently at Spurs , going back decades . S'pose thats why LVG was a good prospect for us...someone with the gravitas and determination to change the 'minimum effort' club mentality.

Lloris I'd add to the above lists of carers....but jesus we have players that really really don't give a shit .

Soldado cares, whatever you think of him as a player or purchase there is definite passion, anger and a will to succeed.

If we can include non-players, then I would add Freund to the list that cares about the club

Soldado seems to care to me, always celebrates when we score even when he is on the bench and genuinely seems gutted about how it has gone for him so far.

Agree with this. You can look back in the original Soldado threads that I always saw him as a VDV type player. Mature with loads of passion. They are both winners and have been in the game long enough to give 100%.

Rose? Rose? I actually can't believe you said Rose.

Rose rose, whatever you may say,
Remember your role once crossing halfway,
You always lose the ball, so bust a fucking gut,
Your a fucking defender, not a winger you slut !

I think the OP is talking bollocks.

I see the replies are keeping up the standard also.

After some of the post on this forum over the last 18 months some should keep quiet.

Talk about judging others by your own standards!
