Why didn't we buy Suarez?

have to agree with BC, Carroll's technique is average at best and he looks an immobile lump.

Suarez was fairly hurried in all he did tonight also, not his best game.

I don't really give a fuck as long as the players behind him have enough craft and vision.

Carrol can hold it up, bring others into play and he can finish really fucking well with either foot or his head. You can also go route one to him.

I said at the time that selling Torres and buying those two represents an upgraded forward line and I stand by it.

Carroll has brilliant technique. Can score from anywhere, and has a bullet header. Believe me he is the real deal. If he had a fancy Spanish name people on here would be all over him.

I remember redknapp saying that Levy asked him whether he wanted suarez and he said no as we have VDV. I am not a big VDV fan and have always thought he is not quite special enough to want a AMC role.
However who would you rather VDV or Suarez?

I don't know. I've seen very little of this Suarez bloke but I love it when a player has pace and runs at people.

not even a question job16.

I think you lot are seriously underrating Carrols technique, no point having this discussion now, time will prove me right, even if Carroll was 5'5 he would still be a great footballer. Has the ability to take people on, a brilliant striker of the ball. Good long range and short range passing (Drogba also is a very much underrated passer of the ball). He can score from anywhere, hits the ball with so much venom. He is going to be the best English goalscorer since Shearer.

I like Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, but there is no point crying over them. They cost a combined £60m, you would hope that they look pretty good. They probably look at us and wish they had our £7m wingers because they are seriously lacking out wide and until they finally improve their options they will still fall short.

I do think they will pose a pretty major threat next season. Seems like they are going to sign Enrique for £15m in the summer and that is a big upgrade at left back for them and then they will go on to throw a lot more money around. Kenny is not stupid, knows what he wants and the board will back him.

people saying liverpool did well getting Carroll and Saurez by selling Torres would say that we lack ambition if we sold Bale to chelsea to get those 2o in. Get a grip people

says the man who has us signing ashley young for £15 m and Drogba for £12 m as well as us Robben, Becks, Lukaku and Wickham??

I thought VDV became available only at last minute, so i dont know how we could have said no to suares knowing we could get VDV

I'd rather have VDV over Suarez. But I do like Suarez but understand why Harry said No.

I think he's talking about the January window.

I think that's about where I'm at. I think Suarez is great and would of still loved him but can understand why Harry may of said no to it. 24 Mill is an awful lot to splash for a club like spurs on a player who isn't EXACTLY what we need.

Our fans don't support our expensive English signings, Carroll wouldn't have been warmed to here.

this and btw Hart should have saved his first goal and his second wasn't scored by him at all it was an own goal

I can't tell who got the final touch for his second but I agree that Hart should have done much better for the first.

When we got Van De Vaart the idea of Suarez for me dropped. Carroll is one player we missed but knowing our fans, he wouldn't have been given a chance. We all love an exotic name at Spurs.
