If Hutton does not sign the only thing that saga will have achieved is to unsettle Chimbonda. Bearing that in mind I would not risk Chimbonda at RB in the Final.
The obvious choice at RB with Gunter ineligible is Lee especially if we sign Gilberto and even if we don't O'hara looked more than useful at LB on Sunay.
And yet... Lee being so one footed SHOULD be a natural for RB. But for some reason he clearly prefers to play LB despite the disadvantage and predictability of dragging every ball on to his right before crossing or usually failing to cross. Does anyone know why he dislikes the RB position ?

If Lee wants to have any kind of future at Spurs, he has to learn to play at RB - which should be his natural side (with all due respect to that other right-footed LB, Chris Hughton).

Until proven otherwise, I'm convinced Ramos likes his sides to attack down the flanks, with FBs and midfielders able to go down the line and cross the ball with their natural foot. Lee cannot do this at LB as he's scared to cross with his left foot and cuts inside. But he should be able to be a decent attacking RB. And since he's defensively very sound, he has to step up and prove to Juande he can play at RB. Or get shipped out. Once Gilberto is in, and Bale is fit, YP will not get a look in on our left flank.

I read an interview with Lee recently and according to him he can't turn left. So he needs to be played as close to the sideline on the left side of the field. That's why he can't play RB.

I'll get my coat.

It's odd, isn't it? I thought he had his most convincing performance at RB for us by far on Sunday, but it seemed to me that he played in a far more strictly defensive role than he does on the left—although this may have been on Juande's orders.

I guess sometimes it doesn't matter what foot you're predominantley using, if you've trained for years in a certain position it's just what you feel comfortable doing.

Well I guess marking Giggs and Ronaldo was the priority for our 2 makeshift full backs. Though despite having the tougher marking job I think Ohara got forward more than YP.

That's exactly it, surely. He's bound to be far more comfortable on the left than he is the right because that's his position; on the left. It doesn't matter that he's right footed. He's a left back.

ship lee out? give me a break.

he's clearly much more confident and able on the left, but to suggest he is of no use in an attacking sense because he puts in a low number of crosses is rubbish, he does well, he gets down the line, stretches the defence, and passes.

tainio can play at right back or even zokora so what is the big deal for the carling cup.
and that's going with your theory that chimbonda shouldnt be played cos he is gonna be worse than usual? what another load of rubbish, if anything he has been more solid recently, as if he has something to prove..and he does.

i hope the days of clown-bonda are over.

I think the Hutton saga is in many ways similar to the Ramos saga. Just as it undermined Jol so it has unsettled Chimbonda. It could of course be just tabloid reporting but by all accounts he is indeed unsettled.
And I can't believe you would really consider playing Tainio there after his semi final and he and Jenas are finally starting to look the business. I'm sure Joe Cole would love Zokora to play against him.
But is the only argument about Lee at RB that he is used to playing at LB ?

Lee has been one Tottenham's best servants and although not on such brilliant form as last season was Jol's and is Ramos' choice this season .

His form has deteriorated since last year beyond what is attributable to age so he must be carrying an injury .

Contrast Chimbonda , not so much of a Steady Eddy but towards the top of the top five right backs in the World when his mind is right .

Lee plays right-back for Korea, and I thought he did quite well there against United.

But the main question is, where is Carl?

i thought lee looked quite good at RB on sunday, considering he hasnt played there for god knows how long. He's a good versatile defender, who does his job first rather than looking flashy and trying to be a winger!

Don't dare to suggest to Carl that O'hara should challenge him for the LB position !

But I agree with the principle of playing Lee at RB if Hutton stays where he is.

Does Lee look 'comfortable' at right back? Nope

Does lee even look totally comfortable at left back should be the next question.

Ive never seen a player with such an inability to cross the ball in my life and one who does so many step overs but can rarely beat a player!

The only compliment i have for him is his the effort he seems to put in every week.

Despite his inability to cross, Lee defends quite well and he seldom loses possession of the ball.

hmmm I can take the point that he might defend reasonably when the ball is on the floor but other teams have targeted him quite a lot as being poor in air.

Bottom line for me is that he is average at best. I mean compare him to the left-backs currently in the the top four clubs. We need better quality - fingers crossed Gilberto is better.
