After the deadline of the 31st, everything is restarted. So at 10 yellows he will get a one game ban.

So why then does Alex Song have a two match ban for reaching 10 yellow cards? It says he's banned till March 14th, which is two game weeks away.

Edit : Never mind, it looks like Song had reached 5 yellows before 31st December and served a one match ban for that.

well done big turnip for digging out the rules

if wilson didn't have 5 before dec 31 surely then he gets no ban?

the bans only seem to apply rather strangely to people who got a ban in the firstpasrt of the season

may well be wrong

anyway have some rep BT

song presumably collected 5 before dec 31

EDIT - apparently have repped you too much - ah well thanks anyway BT :)

If you didn't collect 5 before December 31, then 10 yellows results in a one game ban.

where does it say that in the rules quoted by BT? I'm not doubting the truth of the statement - just can't see it in the rules quoted

Because Wilson didn't receive disciplinary action after receiving five yellow cards, because it was past the cut off date.

(iv) If a Player accumulates ten cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering:- Two First Team matches

Surely that means a 2 game ban then - very clear!

No, because they are leading on from having a one match ban for five yellow cards.

still can't see where it says ten cautions gets a one match ban if you haven't had 5 before Dec 31

Previously, players collecting five yellow cards prior to the final day in February were subject to a one-match suspension. This will now only apply if a player reaches five yellow cards before 31 December. Sanctions for players accumulating 10 and 15 cautions remain in place as do their respective amnesty periods.

Furthermore, if a player does accumulate the permitted number of cautions prior to a cut-off date then the suspension will now be automatic as opposed to the current seven day rule.

Everything seems to point to a 2 game ban. I agree that pompy and sunderland would be good ones to miss

it's still all as clear as mud to me - I believe the people who are saying that wilson's ten cards will get him a one match suspension, but I still don't see where it's clearly written down

it seems you have to make inferences from other statements.

thanks for all the info and FA stuff anyway guys - as I say I'm sure the 'one match suspension' view is correct

The bit that Chris quoted suggests it's irrelevant what went on before. "Sanctions for players accumulating 10 ... cautions remain in place".

Done deal. Two games.

so ever more confusing - this is absolutely ridiculous and extremely poor on the FA's part

they need to set things out quite unequivocally

on this thread alone we've had 0 1 and 2 games put forward as the answer

I'll guarantee if I ran the situation on another forum and asked how many games Wilson will miss, if at al,l on receipt of his next caution given that he only had four cautions before Dec 31 there would be similar confusion

especially if i put in the info that BT kindly supplied from the FA, which completely confuses the issue as far as I can see

10 bookings before 2nd Sunday in April = 2 match ban. Harry has also mentioned in interviews that wilso is one booking a way from a 2 game ban. I really can't see where the confusion lies. If you want to be confused by wording try reading some tax legislation!

What happens beyound 15 yellow cards? I reckon they may need to rewrite the rules for Wilson.

I think it just goes to 20 yellows= 4 game ban and so on, but not 100% sure on it
