Or words to that effect and not sourced, but Talksport brought up that quote this morning in the news. As if Woody has slated Southgate by inference.

Has anyone got anything on this written or otherwise?

Defender Jonathan Woodgate is apparently feeling great at Tottenham Hotspur as he sets his sights on winning medals under Juande Ramos, whom he referred to as ‘a proper manager.’
The 28-year-old moved to north London last month from his home-town club Middlesbrough after a protracted transfer saga with Newcastle United also wanting him. However, the England international feels Spurs have chance of winning silverware under Ramos, who had a trophy-laden spell at Sevilla before arriving at White Hart Lane late last year.
"I could have stayed at Boro and had an easy life,” Woodgate said in the Mirror.
I could have lived near my home and gone to the games and gone back home.
"But I wanted to come to Spurs and move to London and play for a good team who are going places. I am a footballer and I want to win things. I want to play for a club with ambition.
"The fans are good here and the manager has won silverware. He knows what he's doing - he's a proper manager."

So it wasn't even by inference... he came out and actually said Southgate doesn't know what he's doing!

Three years ago Boro had arguably as good a squad as us and seemed to be going places. Now look at them. Southgate simply seems to be carrying on where McClown left off, losing his best players, in both senses. Yakubu said something very similar when he joined Everton. Downing also seems to be disenchanted.

I think he's probably right, but not sure he should be saying it in public

Although what he said could be correct, I think a bit of class, tact and diplomacy is called for, especially as they rescued him from Real madrid and resurrected his career. Not a wise move IMO.

Whatever, it seems like Downing feels the same way.

It must be very hard to move from playing alongside to managing players at the same club without at least a break or a spell as assistant coach.

I like Gareth Southgate and reckon he will be a fine coach/manager, time will tell.

Just a thought, some of our players have said something very similar over the last couple of months.

Boro should never have appointed Southgate. He hadn't even bothered to complete the official training. Madness.

Still, not my club, not my problem.

I bet Southgate is a terrible manager. He has all the personality of a wash basin

Lets not base management success on personality. Has Juande smiled yet?
And Southgate is pretty poor.

Not at all. They've all maintained their respect for Jol. They just think Ramos is different. And sort of better. Jenas's comment in the Telegraph is pretty typical:

"Don't get me wrong, Martin Jol was fantastic. I thought he was a top manager. But when I get asked what the difference is, the only thing I can say is that our new gaffer has won trophies. He knows what it takes to go to that next level. And I think that's what has probably helped us, especially in that semi-final."

Which is fair enough, and no more than what a lot of people on SC believe. The implication of Woodgate's (and Yakubu's) words is rather different.
