Pochettino clearly loves him which should be reason enough for us to sign him, but also if we have any designs to play a 4-3-3 then a signing like Zaha is essential as we're pretty light on wide players. His ability to beat a man is unrivalled. He also draws fouls, creates space for others and against teams that sit deep, a player with his talents would be a massive asset for us. I think he's quite a significant upgrade on Lucas personally, he's certainly more consistent and Lucas actually rarely beats a man when playing as a natural winger and has generally been better as a forward for us.

On a personal level, whilst we've had great players since, I think Zaha could get me off my seat in a way that we've not really seen since the days of Bale and Lennon on the wings. He's the type of player that you get excited when they pick up the ball in an attacking position.
By saying that "Zaha could get me off my seat in a way that we've not really seen since the days of Bale and Lennon on the wings", I think you are giving massive discredit to Son, who has the ability and the stats to back-up that he does exactly this. Do yourself a favour and rewatch his goal against Chelsea in November.

IMO we've wasted enough time chasing Zaha in previous windows. He signed a contract that made it very difficult for us to buy him, presumably because he wanted the extra money. If we sign Sessegnon I really don't see why we'd throw a massive amount at Zaha when we have other much higher priorities.

I doubt the 25pc would be on the whole fee CP get. Sell on clauses are on the ‘profit’ made by a club. This isn’t necessarily just what they get less what they paid. ‘Profit’ will be defined in each contract. And costs reducing profit might include wages paid during the years the club held onto the player before selling, etc.

Not saying you’re much out re Zaha it’s just sell on clauses are way more complex than they appear from the outside.
I’m going to state the obvious.

Whether the sell on amount is based on profit or purchase price will be dictated by what it actually states in the clause. We don’t know (as we haven’t seen it) therefore stating opinions as fact is potentially misleading.

I did consider Son, and don't get me wrong he's a fantastic player, but he's not to my mind as explosive as Bale or Lennon were. He's powerful, and whilst he has a trick and a good turn of pace, he's not the exact same sort of wide player (nor was Bale ultimately either).

Hence I wrote “I doubt” ie. as an opinion not as a fact.

It was the OP who stated a figure as if it’s a fact.

he's no where near their valuation. you could buy two equal or better players for that, IMO. he's pretty good, thats about it.

So they'll keep him. He's still got four years left on his contract. Either he's happy to stay at Palace in which case fair enough, or he wants to leave but signed a five-year deal anyway in which case he's thick as mincemeat even by footballer standards.

Zaha isn't a proper wide player. He is more son than Lennon but is not as good in either role. Son scores more goals and lennon was a proper winger. Zaha is super talented, but I'm just not sure how he fits in to our team.

I guess if we’re going to truely dine at the top table, he would be considered a very good option. Not as good as Kane or Son but most of last season we had five defenders and Llorente on the bench.
To close that gap we do need three or four £50m players not just one and some future signings.

I really came here to question the asking price. Herc always told us AWB was going to cost well in excess of £60m but will seemingly go for a fair bit less. I wonder what the wiggle room could be on Zaha.
It sounded like money was available to spend on Lo Celso (although in my view that was the Eriksen replacement ) so maybe we can add another forward, even if they aren’t perfect for the starting XI our bench needs a huge upgrade

This is a funny one because he is almost exactly what we need but yet we are prioritising other areas. Sure we need a CM to replace Dembele and we need a better full backs but what we really need is another player who can beat players, is unpredictable and can score goals , enter ZAHA!!!!

We rely far far too much on Harry Kane and I don’t think ndomble and lo celso would fix that, yes we’d be better all round but ultimately whilst son Lucas and dele are good players they don’t score enough goals consistently enough for us and Kane is usually out for a few months every season so we 100% need adequate cover for him.
Depending on funds, id be looking at zaha next after ndomble not lo celso. Then lo celso can be an option to replace erisken if he leaves.

I’d guess Parish is looking at minimum £75mil for Zaha.

Wonder how he must be feeling watching Wan-Bissaka move to United.

Probably a lot of jealousy, frustration and regret - I'd be very surprised if it doesn't trigger a move for him this summer.

Nobody is going to pay more than £60m for him though.

I think someone would pay £70 and that would be a fair compromise.
