Brits always miss when it's most important, you know it!

You always seem to forget that;

When you say that the Premiership as so much stronger than all other leagues......it SHOULD be; the top4 in England are currently stronger than most out there. When it comes to places from 5 and down the rest seem as good or better many times. Just look how the English clubs always have to leave the UEFA-Cup when it gets close to the finals. Why is that? Couldn't be that they's so much better than the rest, could it?

Best thread for a long time! Some so called Spurs supporters pain for Chelski is just hilarious.

Another unprovoked jibe at England, fantastic. I don't know how someone with such a complex over anything British can support an English team.

The UEFA Cup this year has two German teams and two Ukranian. That doesn't prove much other than those four teams have done well. I don't think that what happens one year in a cup is a clear benchmark but what happens year after a year in the CL is a better indicator. That aside may only prove the top four are the strongest but maybe they are the strongest because they are tested week in weeek out in England and have to raise their game. This year especially, there have been few easy games and maybe the chemistry and balance of defensive solidity and attacking flair has stood English teams in good stead.

The European competitions are the only ways of comparing teams in games but if you look as to the reason why English teams dominate the Champions League, other than European heavyweights like Barca and Juve etc, you have to ask why? Surely suggesting that this league is the most competitive and has the highest quality is not the most absurd thing to say in the world. But then you have this complex about England and English managers, even ones of your own team allegedly, that you have to deal with.

...

Possibly to do with the Champions' League teams dropping down into the UEFA (Europa) cup, meaning that the best teams from other leagues are playing the 5th/6th/7th best teams from the EPL.

Just a thought...

Have absolutely no problem with England, it's the other way around really. I love the atmosphere and alot of other stuff about the country. It some of the inhabitants that think it's still 1966 or the 16th century i have some issues with. In other words those that fear everything not British.

So this thread was great fun to follow yesterday.

I think only very weak people feels that have to worship a manager they don't like just because he happens to be the manager of the team you follow. One week they hate him and the next they love him, if that's something you admire and respect in a person. Well then it's your problem.

And a very apt reminder Dougs.
I haven't seen people get irate over two teams that doesn't include Spurs in for a bloody long time, if ever, in this forum!

wWsn't that long ago, posts were up saying how they hated JT and some even laughed that Frank Lampards mum died... now we are defending them to the hilt.

yeah, they were a bit unlucky with some decisions, but fuck it, its chelsea!!

A club supported by scum and anything bad that happens to them, such as the events of last night are fucking hilarious and fine by me.

Fuck them and fuck the horse Roman Abramovich rode in on.

My thoughts exactly. Couldn't have said it any better.

How does that refer to me?

Comparing the leagues, because of 4 english teams and 2 spanish teams is nonsense.

Go through the whole league, there is a gap between Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea. Then you have Arsenal on their own. Then there is a gap between them and Villa/Everton.

Then there is the chasing pack.

If English teams were also dominating the Uefa Cup, I'd argue that the PL is stronger throughout, but no english teams are dominating that, so the top teams are dominating the lot, which proves even further how far Spurs actually are behind, cos not only are we having to catch the English Elite, we are effectivly chasing Europes Elite, which makes the challenge even tougher.

Barca for all their fantastically beautiful football, struggled against a very defensive and physically posing Chelsea. Understandably, its exactly why teams struggle against the likes of Stoke and Bolton (someone mentioned Gary Megson's comment).

It's a valid tactic to defend, and to stop the superior oppenent from playing. I do find it funny, how many a fan are saying its great tactics, but I remember it like yesterday when we apparently parked the bus, and it was shockingly bad football (I've reminded them).

But, thats what happens with football fans, you defend your team with blind love/passion.

Technically, Spain are much better than England - country wise, and possible League wise. Spain gave England a master class in our match, in how to play the ball properly and effectively.

As I said earlier, Man Utd, are the best team in the UK, without a doubt. They are great technically, they have depth in squad, thet have a fantastic defence, cracking midfield, that can fight and play, and are as devestating as Barca in attack (look at Utd's break away goal against Arsenal on Tue).

It should be set up to be the final of all finals (at least until we get there!!!!!)

Spain are far better than England, yes, though we were missing players that night and they were not. But as a league, the English league is stronger and that is shown not only in the CL but in the calibre of players coming here and as I said, the fact that these four teams have to raise their game to be the best four teams and compete in the CL-if they do not, they struggle- see Liverpool at Boro, or Chelsea to us.

As Bonjour said, the UEFA is a bit distorting because you can in essence get the best team from Czech or Ukraine playing the eighth best in England. It isn't really a reliable benchmark one way or tother. I wouldn't say the four semi-finalists say much about their leagues, just their teams. In contrast, our four clubs have done well year after year and have gotten through group stages of games and beaten top sides.

Nothing else to say now other than what the fuck's you problem. 'So-called supporter'

ExpatFan is quite right. Not only are chelsea scum, but they play the type of football which is just horrible to watch. Adding to that that they are scumbags, why on earth would you be cheering them on?

I understand some people claiming Chelsea were done, which they were, but to actually support them being a Spurs fan is beyond a joke.

wow, it amazes me how much people are so anti-barca on here... remember this is the team that prevented the arse (a london teanm) from winning the CL and now they knocked out chelsea (another london team) preventing another dull all english final that might have seen chelsea be the first london club to win the CL..

If you were true spurs supporters you wouldnt be supporting any other team in england against foreigners unless it was for our benefit, which it is absolutely not.

I think it is ok to have an oppinion on the matter that chelsea were hard done by or whatever.. but some people are forcing their oppinions through like they are actual chelsea fans; getting angry using swearing and defending them like chelsea are their team and spurs are not.

barca were the better team over both legs and deserved to go through, we do not owe anything at all to chelsea.. get over it.

I wanted Chelsea to win. What's wrong with that? I don't support them, I support Spurs. But when I watch games I find it hard not to support a particular team for that 90 mins. For many reasons, that was Chelsea. I don't consider them rivals to the extent Arsenal are, so what's the problem? If they were beat, as I thought they might be, fairly by Barca then fine, but the poor ref was a joke and the narrow mindedness of some here that seem alarmed that some don't share their views, on a fucking footbal forum, is pathetic.

This bloke neg repped me for simply saying that Yaya Toure's tackle was fair but Abidal's in the first half was not. WTF?
