Btw, Gus has been telling Pav he needs to "fight" more, and I'm sure Harry agrees with the sentiment for all our players. No more Mr. Laid-back please!

Guus Hiddink has warned Roman Pavlyuchenko that he is wasting his talent and has urged the striker to start fighting for his place at Tottenham Hotspur or risk being left out of the Russia squad. The Russia manager, who admitted that he is concerned with Pavlyuchenko's lack of football at club level, believes the 27-year-old has failed to recapture the form he showed at Euro 2008 and claimed that the forward's laid-back approach means that "almost daily you have to grab him".

Pavlyuchenko has played only 11 minutes of Premier League football this season and is behind Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane in the pecking order at White Hart Lane. The former Spartak Moscow player revealed that he would be willing to listen to offers last month but, with the transfer window now closed, his immediate future lies at Spurs. Hiddink maintains he can make an impact there if he applies himself in the right way.

"He must start fighting for his position at Tottenham," said the Dutchman, who watched Pavlyuchenko come off the substitutes' bench to score the third goal against Wales in the World Cup qualifying victory last night. "When he is playing he must commit himself. If he is not playing, it is worrying. He is depending on the competition for his place in the national squad. If I had more strikers of a high level it would be difficult for him. But I like him very much.

"He does not use his talents at the top level. When you saw him in the Euros [in 2008] he was well-trained, he was fit, he was in a good way aggressive. He was top. He showed what he can do. But almost daily you have to grab him and put him under pressure. He has a lot of power. I like to challenge him to use his power. He is sometimes laid-back in using his talents."

Seems a fair enough assessment. Not-so-super Pavlyuchenko needs to pull his finger out of his arse, pronto.

He hasnt really set the world alight at spurs to be fair. Their are moments of glimpses that suggest that some ability is their, but just not often enough.

Gibbs however, for you to claim all he is good at is shooting is wrong imo..

This is football.

Not Rugby.

And any comparison with le Tissier is quite absurd. But that's good ole Gibberishy for you.

Yeah, saying he's crap then comparing him to one of the most supremely gifted footballers ever to play in England is a bit odd. Aside from that, he's nothing like Le Tiss anyway, so you win the worst thread title ever, and that is something considering the sensationalist headlines you like to put together every now and then

As for Pav, i like him. He hasn't had a chance this season to show what he can do and when he has played, he scored in the cup and set up Lennon for the winner against Brum. But maybe he's not showing enough in training, who knows? Saying that, Crouch is one of Harry's favourites and he hasn't had much of a look in yet either, so i'm sure it's about keeping a winning team as opposed to Pav being too shit for us. I hope he does get a run of 3 or 4 games at least to show us if there is anything about him.

Trust Ole Gibbsy.

Saying that Pav is shit. No doubt when he moves clubs (inevitable sooner or later) this will be another one of his "predictions come true".

Laughing stock.

Le Tessier had more to his game than a bloody good shot he was quality and Pav aint no where near as good at present and probably never will be

How old are you? He was one of the laziest players ever to play in the top flight. But he had a stellar shot on him.

Just a stellar shot?

Not a brilliant touch or the fantastic skill to outfox a player?

...or the ability to score the amount of fantastic goals he did.

How many fantastic goals has Pav scored that are anywhere near the same quality as those of Le Tissiers.

Your comparison is quite frankly pathetic.

Sorry mate, but it probably looks like I have a vendetta against you. I dont, but I cant help but respond to a thread / post in any other way because I think the vast majority of your views are pretty poor.

it's a fair comparison. they are both talented players and hard graft is the last thing you would associate with either of them. and both lack ambition to reallly go places.

The great Jimmy greaves once commented that Spurs need to buy le Tissier even if we had to mortgage WHL. That was one genius recognising another. Unfortunately he would not move and later on the club was too tight to be able to afford him.

how can you not like Pav? Maybe its just his attitude fooling me, but it seems as if there is some quality there waiting to come out.

To have the weight of opinion I have, I can't watch just Spurs and my national team. How can you trust ole Gibbsy if I only watch 90 mins of football a week? I would have to be a complete troll imbecile living in Mother's basement to post such opinions if I posted the things I do.

Fixed your typos, mate.

Lol. Sure buddy. I remember Le Tiss tying defenders up in knots every week. haha. Oh hold on, I don't.

Drag back, shoot, goal. Pen pen pen pen pen sums up Le Tis.

And I said a "little" of Matt is in him. Pav has a great shot on him with a poor team ethic. Same can be said of Le Tiss only an even better shot.

I remember on fantasy football way back, they did a sketch taking the piss of him walking side to side for 89 mins then decimating the net with a shot.

That is what Pavs cameo reminded me of against Wales.

So I love my fan club going over the top to claim "worst thread ever" etc etc. SCREAMS of cross thread butt hurt.

Frankly pathetic? haha. Over the top chaps. I didn't say he is exactly like him for Ledleys sake.

I think your memory is playing slight tricks on you. At his best Le Tissier was not just ascorer of great goals he was also a consistent goal scorer, for a side always near the bottom of the league.

28 and I've seen Le Tessier play plenty of times back in the day

The man was a far better player than Pav will ever be, a footballing genius underrated by many a numpty like you

all he had was a great shot my bollox, he produced many moments of magic on a football pitch

The only comparisons I'd make between Le Tiss and Pav are they're both white and play football that's about it

How is my memory playing tricks on me if I said he scored goals, and you mention the word consistent? I said "a little" of the Le Tiss. Not a carbon copy.

Around 25% of his goals being pens also helps the consistency column.

So you are saying I am wrong? Le Tiss isn't lazy? Because that is what I claim.

And Pavs International manager is wrong about Pav being laid back?

And Pav has a weak shot? Because I am claiming otherwise.

These are simple comparisons I made.
