Spurs youth journeymen - Where are they now?

These are the three players I was going to mention

I remember seeing Minton on his debut against Everton scoring (maybe twice) as we turned a three nil half time lead into a 3-3 thanks to Beardsly

Houghton was a short stumpy gingerish guy I remember him scoring a great goal than fading into nothing

Turner seemed to be a great player, I think he was the youngest goal scorer in the PL at one point. I remember seeing him score the 3 in a floodlight win over Man City and also he scored the winner in a dramatic win over Everton one time.

Gosh I was a young school kid when all this was going on

That's right. That Everton game was last home game (or maybe even lsat game) of the season. I think David Unsworth might have been making his debut for them as well.

The game I remember Scott Houghton for best was the win over Luton at the Lane. We were 1-0 down after an hour (Mick Harford scored) when the floodlights failed. They were off for about 15 mins and as they came back and the game was due to restart we brought on Houghton and (I think) Paul Walsh. Houghton had an absolute stormer down the right and scored two and set up two for Gary Lineker. We ended up winning 4-1. I still reckon that's the best Spurs league game I've ever been to.

Ian Hendon had a good career with Barnet ( I used to watch them quite a bit). Not a bad player

Gerard McMahon! Bought him from Glenavon (I think) and was meant to be the new George Best. He ripped Inter apart in the Fiorucci Cup (mini friendly tournament with us, Inter and Real Madrid) at the Lane but didn't really get a look in at first team level before going back to Stoke. Think he then went to Scotland and last time I looked was back in Northern Ireland.

I remember me and my mate getting Andy Turner's autograph away at Forest and then about 10 years later my mate and Andy Turner were playing in the same non league side.

Cian Hughton is now established as Left Back for Lincoln City, who always seem to have an ex-spur on their books.

I'd like to see Jake Livermore and Adam Smith make it of the current crop, other than the more obvious Masons and Townsends.

Phil Ifil appears to be out of the game now, still only 23, I remember the hyping he got after he made his debut against Liverpool

RE: Ian Sampson, I vaguely remember the Intertoto squad we cobbled together, can anyone point me in the direction of a good link regarding it? We got players in from a few different teams didnt we?

Phil Ifil had a few games at the start of one season, was it under Santini? Remember him doing well away at Newcastle. Disappointed he never made it - did we really give him a chance, and did he not take the chance when it came? I wonder how thin the line between making it and dropping into league two really is.

I remember Yannick Kamann scoring lots of goals for our youth team. And Rob Burch was at the club for ages, as he broke his leg or something so the club kept him on so he could recover.

What about Terry Dixon? Is he still at West Ham?

He did look great in that Liverpool game though didn't he?! Hope for his sake he gets a new club soon.

This is the team that lost 8-0 to Koln:

Day, Carr, Clapham, Coll, Newson, Byrne (Wormull), Watson, Pardew, Spencer (Sampson), Slade (Mahorn), Turner

Terry Dixon was released by West Ham over the summer I think, I remember seeing a great picture of him in a reserve game there, he looked like he weighed about 18 stone!

I saw Turner make his debut. Anyone remember Scott Houghton and Jeff Minton?

Jeff Minton I've interviewed and met on numerous occasions when he was at Brighton. The most bizarre thing about him is that his wife looks/looked absolutely identical to him (ie, short, squat, darkish skin, little goatee beard).

I am possibly one of the only people in the world to have watched every single 'home' Spurs Intertoto Cup games. That, somehow, does not make it on my Curriculum Vitae.

My old man actually did the deal to host the games at the Goldstone. He did Spurs a big favour allowing the game to be there as Wimbledon were also using it - imagine saying to our groundsman that he had to get pitches ready for two games a week throughout July! - and in return Spurs did him/Brighton a favour by paying a six figure amount in money and then hosting him and his son (ie, me) in the Director's Lounge for a few games. :)

The sons of both Darren Caskey and Nick Barmby are England U16/17 internationals - Jake Caskey (Brighton) and Jack Barmby (Man Utd). Will be interesting to see if they make it.

Hang on. Still no confirmed sightings of Steve Slade? I'll alert the police, BOF can write the Telegraph and we need as much help as possible with the advertising hoardings.

Assume positions and spread the word. Go Squad Palmer.

Remember Andy Turners goal that never was after the on pitch riot at the city ground in the cup quarter final 93?

He ran from inside his own half onto a through ball and made it 5-1. The ref disallowed it as the police horses had already had to come on the pitch once. Then while 5 of our players surround the ref, Keith Curle carried the ball the length of the pitch and scored.

Didn't Steve Slade appear at the aniversary game against Villa? The 4-4 Kaboul last minute equaliser match.
