Jenas started the move for the first goal we scored last night off by making a cracking tackle on Sneijder. And then managed to be the only Spurs player to keep up with Bale as we streaked passed all the Inter players.

Jenas made the pass to Bale for the second goal, and what a pass it was.

Jenas took the ball from Inter yet again and started the move for the third goal.

God, some of you are very difficult to please. He was involved in all three goals and involved an excellent second half performance from our defence and attack.

Those guys only see what they want to,they have their minds made up before the match starts and only look for anything he does' wrong simply to confirm their prejudice against him. They totally blank the good things he does'.

Jenas has been our best and most consistant central midfielder this season.
The guy has also stated that he has been playing injured for the past 2 seasons and taken injections to play for us.

Give the man a break and give him a chance for fuck sake you morons!

I would love them to point out this mythical midfielder who never lose's the ball, never misses a pass, wins every tackle and tracks back to pick up opponent's every single time as well as scoring 15/20 goals a season?

Who is he because I have yet to see him and I have been watching football for 40 years?

Not going to Jenas hate, but our central midfield was not great yesterday at all. Huddlestone was bad, Jenas not much better.

I honestly think you must have been watching another match.

Unfortunately we played a midfield 4 against a 5 and you are never going to win the battle with those odds (especially given their quality). Jenas though has been one of our best and most consistent players so far this season. Only Bale and VDV (although brief) have played better on a regular basis so all the idiots on here that go on about him being worth £2m and praying someone takes him off our hands need their heads checked. Because they are saying they'd prefer to play Modric (who admits to not playing well yet this season), Huddlestone (who was anonymous again last night and still looks incapable of imposing himself on a game), Palacios (who hasn't played well for 12 months) or Sandro (who hasn't even settled in yet.

As for last night he didn't have a good 15 minutes at the start but he gave us all our shape after that and burst his lungs alongsidde Bale at every opportunity. Some of his tackling was massive as well - although the ref didn't appreciate a few very very good tackles.

Useful player to have and would be hard to upgrade on unless their first name was Mikel, Nuri or Xabi, but people could say the same of Huddlestone.

Jenas, Sandro, Palacios, Modric and Huddlestone is a pretty decent set of central midfielders.

Add Toni Kroos to that list

Oh and if anyone doesn't like/support any of the Spurs players, why don't you just nob off and support someone else - Liverpool are always after a few fairweather fans who like to piss and moan.

If you support a club, you support the whole club.

I totally agree, Keane has been shit for a while but i will always cheer him on even if I don't like him atm, unlike some at the city game

He is gutless and lacks enthusiasm. he made a blinding tackle in the second half but only because he had to track back after giving the ball away with a crappy nothing ball. He didnt track back for the 1st goal and was a passenger (as were the rest of the team) in the 1st half. Last night was JJs career boiled down to a single 90 mins. Showed some good bursts and a few periods where he put the effort in made a few runs and passed fine. He also failed to pick up midfield runners, aimlessly ran around the middle without actually pressurising the player on the ball, gave it away needlessly and ran into a few blind allys. We know he has it in him but whats letting him down is his drive, determination and footballing brain.

We can buy much better and it wouldnt cost a fortune. However. As a squad player he is valuable. If he get him on a good day that is.

...... Balls... Said I would never post in a JJ thread again....

quite comfortably the best spurs player in germany, did an excellent job against FC Twente when VDV was sent off, and imo the 2nd best spurs player last night even after the terrible 1st half.

excellent against stoke....I don't know he's been alot more consistent the modric, palacios or even golden boy huddlestone so far

ITV made a big deal about Jeans not following his man but very few, if anyone, has pointed out his first mistake. We were set up well and JJ goes in for a challenge he was never going to get and the player managed to flick it to the player in front of Hutton. This is the same mistake Huddlestone makes time and time again, going in for needless tackles and making it easier for the opposing player to bypass you. It's especially worse when you've got no one close behind to mop up

Huddlestone was also in no mans land for that first goal, not in a position to block the pass, nor in a position to tackle anyone. If I'm harsh Lennon could have seen the danger and ran back as a precaution but it happened very fast and he probably had a bit more faith than I do in his team mates.

Yes, some people do remember the bad stuff and ignore the good stuff but frankly it's so little it's not worth remembering. Yes he made a tackle that started the first goal. Yes, he kept up with Bale one time. Yes, he played a short pass into space for Bale. All of these examples are things you expect a player to do all the time. They are not moments of genius, they're mundane moments in a match. If you want examples of JJ playing well, those are not it.

As always I support JJ every time he plays but that doesn't mean I think he's any good, I just wish him sucess.

Ive said this numerous times but always been slated for it: Jenas and Hudd do not make a good CM pairing

Nope. I knew we were screwed when they showed our line up on ITV. Even when they were at their best under Jol, those two always caused us problems defensively. We've moved on but they haven't.

Harry shouldn't have gone with one up front. Bad mistake. He's clearly of the opinion that crouch's presence would cause them problems but sadly it's not just enough to stick him up front, he has to actually do something.

What people forget about JJ is that he's been having pain injections for a long time

He's free of that now and funnily enough playing a lot better

This is your season JJ - show your skills!!!

If that's true then clearly we have to cut him some slack for last season but he's always been inconsistent, even before the injury.

agree that JJ had a good 2nd half last night.

He had a major part to play in all 3 goals and has been very impressive in all his appearances this season.
It is also noticeable how he tends to drive forward with the ball now, no more backward/sideward passes when he receives the ball. Is this down to Harry's coaching? Harry giving him the belief and freedom to to express himself more?

However, you can't say JJ has been our most consistent player this season, how many games has he started? Hudd imo has been our most consistent midfielder this season, and has improved massively to become an integral part of our team (last night being the exception)

It could be down to a lot of things, and you could argue, probably with a fair deal of justification, that neither Jol nor Random assigned him a clearly defined role. We've also had ITK that Jenas lacks self-belief, something that's been long suspected.

But really, a string of highly respected managers and coaches know less than SC members? Do me a fucking favour.

JENAS ON INTER MILAN

Jermaine Jenas revealed that the talk in the dressing room at half-time at the San Siro was all about salvaging pride against Inter Milan.

Our dream tie in the Champions League had quickly turned into a nightmare.

As Harry Redknapp later described, the team was ‘bang in trouble' as they headed back down the tunnel at the interval, 4-0 down against the Italian title winners and Champions League holders.

Inter scored after one, 10, 14 and 35 minutes and to add to our woes, we were down to 10 men as early as that tenth minute with goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes sent off for a foul on Jonathan Biabiany.

So what was it like out there - and in the dressing room at the interval?
"You look at what's going on and start to worry," reflected JJ, who had a fine match in central midfield.

"I remember thinking ‘we need to get ourselves in order here' and we got to half-time, had a chat and said to each other that it was time to stand up, to salvage some pride and show some guts and determination.

"Fair play to all the lads, we came out fighting. We got the goal early, Gareth Bale was magnificent and we came out of it with some respect in the end.

"But that's not to hide the problems we caused ourselves in the first half.

"Our downfall came in the first half and the problems we caused ourselves.

"We gave ourselves such a mountain to climb. We nearly climbed it, but fell short in the end. The feeling I had at 90 minutes was that I wished we had five more."

I'm also in the camp who thinks that Jenas was very good indeed for us last night, as he's been all season long.

We really need to stop analysing one or two players performances after each game.

As soon as JJ gets some fire in his belly he's awesome, unfortunately he's on a diet that consists of 90% wet squid.

He was shit for 70 minutes, constantly gave the ball away or failed to move the ball forwards.

I celebrated when we signed Jenas and I've suported him for a long time, but he just ain't hungry enough.

I reckon we'd still get £8m for him.

He's been very good this season and certainly more consistent than Hudd.

However, Harry has shown himself to be the master of the squad rotation and so he won't be selling any of our main players any time soon. JJ has come in from the cold, just like Bale, Hutton, Kaboul, Bentley, BAE, Pav and more recently Wilson, and performed very well.

I do think that Sandro will replace him at some point though.
