Agreed - i thought he was very good last night (considering the overall team performance), second half especially. It was Hudd who was the liability last night - i was looking foward to him lighting up the san siro with his european style of play, but he was overrun and looked like the Hudd of old for the most part

Ive said this numerous times but always been slated for it: Jenas and Hudd do not make a good CM pairing. Their movement and pressing is never on sync and it seems neither understands each's game. Surprise surprise both were shite again yesterday.

first 20 minutes he was shocking... and in second half there were quite a few misplaced passes

Everyone is talking about bale's worth, and rightly so. But I wonder about Jenas is worth now, much abused regularly by roughly 50% of spurs fans, but again in the champions league, like he was against Werder he was quite superb. Ok not so much in the 1st but in the 2nd he was a beast.
If he continues his performances in the champions league i wouldn't be surprised to see him get on the short list for uefa champions league team of the year (doubt he'll get in the team)

wouldn't surprise me if there were a few looking at him in Janurary across europe now, easier to pry away than Bale

let the jenas hate commence! :)
I must have been watching another match, he worked very hard but gave the ball away almost everytime he had it.

And the rest of the team covered themselves in how much glory during that period?

The two central midfielders are more to blame than the rest of the team. If you dont see that after watching the first 20 mins again then I can't really say anymore.

The entire first 20 minutes?

That's too easy and simple to say though. The whole team was utter shite for that time. After that was there any moments of it? I don't think so. Not for JJ anyway. His CM partner Hudd didn't help him much with the shit he produced last night though.

Care to elaborate on the moments of utter shite? I don't recall any of them.

One massively shite moment at exactly 68 seconds(or there abouts) that put us on the back foot from the off, maybe if he had done one of the most basic aspects of the game(tracking a runner) we might have being able to settle our nerves in the opening 20minutes but that certainly did not help matters and imo added more pressure upon the team.

i think what he is getting at is althought it may sound a bit harsh to pick up on this point, it is the amount of times he does this sort of thing and the amount of times he has been INCONSISTANT.... which is part of the old spurs teams. Not now!

I saw us getting overrun all over the pitch, especially when Gomes got a red.

I don't attribute that to any fault of JJ.

But fuck it, this convo has been done to death on here. You have your opinion I have mine.

I can't wait for the match at the Lane I reckon we have a great chance of giving them a whipping.

This. tracking a runner.. going from the centre of the park to space left by an attacking fullback is the most basic skill for any CM. He failed. What makes this worse is that Jenas is notorious for ball watching. He just stood there like a numpty watching the pass be made and just stood there like a pillock.. i was bloody fuming. I saw it quicker than he did.

He's been very good in the last 3/4 games that he's played. That's hardly inconsistent is it?

He was in the team to 'patrol' the midfield just in front of the back 4. He was picked because he's got the legs to get around players like Sneijder.

We were embarrassing in the 1st half because we stood off and let them play, you could almost describe it as admiring them. We were slow and didn't track runners. He summed this up, granted he wasn't alone.

People talk about him having a good 2nd half but Inter took their foot off the pedal; 2 of our goals were 90 mins plus so we hardly had them worried.

I just get fed up with reading about how these players have waited their whole career to play at places like the San Siro then make it look like they've turned up for the occasion rather than to get a result.

All in all, I don't think he's good enough for where we are now and where we want to be.

i don't hate him, but i do wish we'd sell him. Partly because he's the windbags favourite (like an argument? love Jenas).

Mainly because I thought he was magnificent in the 2nd half - really. He was all action, passion and comitment.

I just can't bear to have my expectations for him dashed the very next time he wears the shirt. He'll be mediocre, indecisive and weak (1st half yesterday).

He's just perfect for Sunderland, not for us.

Jenas started the move for the first goal we scored last night off by making a cracking tackle on Sneijder. And then managed to be the only Spurs player to keep up with Bale as we streaked passed all the Inter players.

Jenas made the pass to Bale for the second goal, and what a pass it was.

Jenas took the ball from Inter yet again and started the move for the third goal.

God, some of you are very difficult to please. He was involved in all three goals and involved an excellent second half performance from our defence and attack.

Useful player to have and would be hard to upgrade on unless their first name was Mikel, Nuri or Xabi, but people could say the same of Huddlestone.

Jenas, Sandro, Palacios, Modric and Huddlestone is a pretty decent set of central midfielders.
