If come the end of the window Suarez is our only option, we must surely put that £20 million on the table.

I'm usually one of the optomists, but I just don't see us buying a striker, and can't as it stands see us making the CL again next season. And with the way things are going with the stadiums, I just see this season as a huge missed opportunity. :-(

Things can't be that doom and gloom yet

Ajax's self-imposed deadline is 29th January - tomorrow.
Do you really think it would make a difference if it was done tomorrow or Monday. I dont think the deadline will mean much tbh. Arshavin was given a deadline but it kept getting changed, it rambled on all the way until deadline day. I think Ajax are prepared to lose him now and they'll accept a respectable bid this window.

Just got a funny feeling about Suarez. I think Levy has an offer ready just below what Ajax want, but higher than Liverpool have bid so far. I think he's letting Ajax sweat on him until the deadline.

Well if Levy waits till the deadline Ajax simply wont sell because they need time to get in a replacement. Ajax set a deadline of tomorrow.

Remember our predicament when we flogged Berbatov at the deadline and we were scrambling for a replacement and ended up with Frazier Campbell. It was rumored we tried to get Kevin Doyle but Reading told us to bugger off because they couldnt get a replacement at 10 mins to midnight on deadline day.

It's sad that the most relevant ITK regarding a forward this window might have been rebrab's thread on using Kaboul up top. We are getting that desperate. Wasn't really ITK....more like awesometacity!

stroke of genius

might have to get ryan to ask his boss to tell Harry about it

Eurosport:
There's talk in Spain today that Real Madrid will offer €45million for Cesc Fabregas in the summer. Sure that will go down well with the Arsenal supporters.

I wonder if they made a HUGE EXCLUSIVE and had everyone waiting around until 5:30.

I've lost hope. I can't wait for the Europa fucking League next season because of this striker balls-up.

Kaboom up top is like 4-5-1.5, but that's cold comfort.

*sigh* I'm inclined to feel that way myself. Hopefully we are both proved wrong.

The footballtransfertavern.com article can go straight in the bin. It's journalistic quality is shown immediately by the comment that Benzema limped away from the world cup with the rest of the France squad. He wasn't even in the squad, it was huge news!

Ugh, I despair.

I reckon our number one target was Dzecko and we got gazumped on his wages. After that it has been a case of resurrecting intitial contacts with agents and Clubs to see what remains loose enough to prise away.

Quite possibly but the world has known City were in for him for at least a year, so we've known he wasn't coming to us for a year.

All this running around at multiple targets hoping to pin the tail on the donkey is wearing a bit thin. If they can't find a gettable player better than Crouch and or Defoe then the entire scouting network needs a complete overhaul. Or perhaps its the way we negotiate, or maybe the manager's bottle's gone re spending big money on one player and having to take responsibility if it goes wrong.

Whatever the problem is, it's rapidly becoming too late to rectify because our chance at building the club into something fantastic will soon be gone. With every day that goes by, and every sitter Defoe slams straight at the keeper's legs, the bright future we saw so clearly a few months ago becomes ever dimmer.

After reading todays itk I'm convinced that we wont be signing a new striker this window. To be honest I'm sick to death of this kind of 'ambition' every fucking window it's the same. Why can't we identify our top target, tap him up, make sure he wants to come, and then spend the rest of the window agreeing a price with the selling club? Instead of this endless merry go round with stikers in Europe, we lost out on D.Milito a couple of seasons back because of our obsession with working on about five different striker deals at any one time and we'll doubtless do the exact same this window when we go running to Forlan and Fab on the last day of the window.

Even if the club misses out on CL next season its not the end of the world. Yes dissapointing but not the end.
