I'm usually one of the optomists, but I just don't see us buying a striker, and can't as it stands see us making the CL again next season. And with the way things are going with the stadiums, I just see this season as a huge missed opportunity. :-(

I fully agree with you but I keep clinging onto the hope that Levy will not let all the hard work and effort go to waste, our time is now, we all know it , he knows it so just buckle up and enjoy the next few days :hump:

That's unrealistic. We won't lose any of our top players in the summer even without CL football IMO. I just think it will make things harder to attract top players, although our targets so far this window wouldn't mind Europa League either to be honest - Pienaar, Neville, Robinson, Parker, Forlan, Fabiano.

None of that lot are in the CL now.

I'm starting to think it's going to be a typically busy 31st of the month, and to be honest, I think it's getting silly every window the same story.

All these mad hypes, the sites crashing, and what do we have to show for it all? Ambition? Well evidently not enough. Ambition at this stage IMO is doing what the top clubs do, have one target, identify him, and go all out to get him. Unreasonably priced? Sell dead wood. I'm sure the money raised in doing so is the equivalent of the gap in the clubs estimations.

We on the other hand whore ourselves that we're out for a striker, approaching every Tom, Dick and Harry, without being willing to fork out for any of them. No wonder none of them are exactly falling over themselves to join.

All these people with the outlook of "if we dont sign a striker it will be a huge missed opportunity". Its not like Harry or Levy have just been sitting on their arses and not trying. If the players arent available, be it in january or summer, then we arent going to get them. Its not a simple case of identify -> bid -> buy. It doesnt work like that. We have to accept that as we dont have a huge stadium or a billionaire owner, we simply cannot afford to offert the wages that MOST big name strikers command without seriously damaging our finances. That means we have to rely on the players having an attitude to WANT to play for the club and have reasonable monetary demands (like VDV), as well as being allowed to leave by their clubs. This limits us considerably. Yes, i will be disappointed if we dont sign a striker. We are crying out for one. But if we dont, im not pinning the blame on either the best manager or chairman that weve had in decades.
