Bib BIG no no to VdV leaving...

He is my favourite spurs player by a mile... Well ok, maybe not a mile, maybe by the width of a mars bar, but I cry with happiness whenever this guy scores.

Play 4231 and watch him shine.
4411 is balls unless we need to be defensive.

Now to get the likes of falcao, gervinho, leandro and we will be feared.

I can only assume that either Crouch is your love child or you are his.

Gyan? Seriously?! He's no where near good enough at scoring goals. It seems such a shit choice that I think this particular transfer rumour is total shit.

Crouch being poor in the air is a myth, sure he struggles to get power on his headers but he is good on the air, read this for more

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/10/15/peter-crouch-headers/

We need a striker that can, in order of importance

1.put the ball in the back of the net
2. Hold up the ball
3. Experienced at playing as a lone front man

I think the strikers on my list cover at the very least the first two, and in most cases the 3rd as well

Unfortunately that article is a terrible piece of analysis and frankly an abuse of statistics to support an argument - the sole thing demonstrated at all in the entire article is that IF he scores, it's marginally more likely to have been with one his feet. The knock-downs analysis is also incredibly weakly supported - citing a few examples doesn't say anything about actual effectiveness. He's a poor forward and £10m would be brilliant for him.

That said though, I'd have to agree with your priorities for new front men and probably in the same order. Fingers crossed the club are looking in the same direction and can do something about it!

Agree with most of those but harsh on Pav tbh, Pav for me is the best striker at the club and the one I would least like to see go, very good as someone to come off the bench

So how much would VdV be worth? 10M? 20M? 30M?
IF DL sold him, how much would we be happy with?

Carew, F Campbell, Zigic, Heskey & Jerome
Campbell is a very different striker, Think Zigic scored more and he was only signed in jan i think. Carew if fit is better, He can head a ball properly and hold it up better. Heskey is crouch, And Jerome is higher on my fantasy league than Crouch. (best i could do) Next...

The article does more then that it shows that in percentage of goals scored Crouch is among the highest all-time in the PL. His knockdowns can easily been proven by the amount of assists he has got this season, and seasons before this, or you could just ask VdV

its laughable all this talk of vdv going or been sold. he is a luxury type player but well able to get stuck in as well and its shame we dont have that top striker to play him behind yet but he is absolute quality and top notch. his gaols are vital and getting goals from midfield and deep lying striker are vital. now we just need that 20 goal a season man..again wud be nuts to sell but nothing would suprise me with spurs.

No buddy! i honestly believe Crouch is one of the worst striker in the prem!! Name me 5 worse. If you can?

If you want a prolific finisher, Crouch isn't your man, but some strikers play for the team's cause not their own, and often benefit the team more than players like Bent (as an example) who often score plenty but cost the team overall because their team play is poor.

Throughout his Career, players and teams have done quite well when Crouch plays.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't want an upgrade, because I would, but players that can contribute to the team like him and score a shed load are the nirvana. The elusive uber striker. The Drogba's, Berbatov's, Kanoute's etc.

Torres has just moved for 50 million pounds, but if you compare his and Crouch's performances this season you'd be hard pushed to separate their overall contribution to their sides.

Torres has a score/assist rate (10/4) of one every 189 minutes. Crouch (4/6) every 193. Crouch makes an accurate pass to a team mate every 4.2 minutes, Torres 6.1. Crouch passing to a team mate 33% more over the course of season. Both have mid sixties completion rates.

Crouch creates a chance for someone else every 87 minutes, Torres 83.

Whilst Torres has had an indifferent season, and I would still take him over Crouch of course, let's not forget that Crouch has managed to perform whilst used very sparingly, never having a chance to build up rhythm.

Here's another interesting stat, make of it what you will. From the time we beat AC milan in the San Siro on Feb 15 with Crouch's goal he only started 4 league games. Those four games features our only three wins in the league and the other was our 3-3 draw with Arsenal.

Team stats are dangerous, I know, but I don't think it's a coincidence that we played better as a team with him than we did without.

By the way, if the VDV stuff is true, I would be immensely fucked off. Along with Modric he is our only intelligent footballer.

If the 75% of the balls that go to Crouch in a goalscoring opportunities are to his head and he wins 30% of those balls and 30% of those are converted to goals and yet his percentage of goals scored by his head is around 40%

Does that make him a good striker?

Also its only a option if you use it now and again not all the Blood time
