Got another little update...Been told the 'quotes' today are agents speaking and not Modric directly..however its very clear he wants out...Harry wants Diarra or Tiote to replace Modric if he is sold which Harry thinks he will be despite Levy's comments. And Palacios out with Parker in...Parker deal looking like a deadline day move as Levy is refusing to sanction it until we get the deadwood off the wage bill...

In an ideal world Bentley would hit the heights he did at Blackburn, Krunchie was given Modrics role, swap Diarra with Jenas and replace all our strikers.

Problem is our second string done mind sitting around picking up their paycheck, add to that we think we can get what we paid for them back.

Its going to be hard to get rid of the bench warmers.

Diarra or Tiote as Modric replacements? Very different players. I hope this is not true.

diarra is a fine midfield player but no way wud he replace modric. we would lose so much and put huge pressure on bale and lennon to create. no chance. modric needs to be kept and he needs to be playing and giving 100%. i believe spurs best formation going forward and with personnel we have is a 4-2-3 1 mode. with eay option to slip back into a 4-4-2 and modric is big part of both.

Diarra and somebody like Marin, with Parker as cover in place of Palacios is possibly the best scenario I reckon we can hope for, considering the way things are starting to pan out.

Re Archies info, Archie's the best going so if he's saying that Levy really wouldn't have accepted even a record bid, and that to Chelsea it's still very unlikely, then I'm inclined to believe him. I have nothing but respect for how Levy is handling this and I have no doubt that, with or without Modric, we will come out of this having done the right thing, whatever that might be.

I'm not sure I agree with this. People forget we have VDV who, before we made him a striker, was a top draw creative midfielder. A five man mid with him, Diarra, sandro, bale and azza would be pretty damn good. Players like thudd and Parker on the bench would offer good support. All we would need then in winger back up and to keep niko for when VDV is crocked and MF would be sorted. I would rather keep Luka but we still have a great midfield.

marin is going no where and where wud creativity come from if and when modric wud leave? we should be after the young brazil midfield players, have no idea what this lyon player is like. never watched him at all.

maybe yes.. that 5 looks a solid midfield but for me more creativity. more link up play and more drive from middle of field wud be needed. i dont see alot of goals in those 5 do you??

i dont doubt that levy is trying his best, but.... he has had 2 1/2 transfer windows to sign a top striker - where is he ?

We really could not pick a more different 'alternative' could we?

Bentley wouldn't fit into a 4-5-1, Niko play from a wide position most effectively. So to that end (in true Duncan Bannatyne fashion), I'm out.

I think Miralem Pjanic will be the guy to replace Modric if he does go. A few papers linking us heavily with him, and personally, it's a deal I'd like to see happen.

Selling Modric and replacing him with Tiote is like breaking up with Angelina Jolie and sticking your cock in a blender.

I don't see a lot of goals in man utds midfield either but they seem to do ok!! I'm of the opinion (possibly in error) that a midfields job is to create and protect and any goals are a bonus. Even in the past Utd with keane, scholes and butt or arsenal with viera and petit. The only thing that would cause an issue would be not signing a top striker. I think Diarra is exactly what we need.

Tell the twat he can go abraod if we get £40m, and that's the only condition of sale.

Of all things that could happen as a result of this, I want to see Chelsea lose out. They must not be allowed to get their man.

I've seen him play in several CL matches and i think his performances have been quite impressive. He can play in VdV (preferred) or Modric role and even as a winger. In 09/10 CL match against Real Madrid, he scored the 1-1 equalizing goal which saw Lyon go through to the quarterfinals.

Pjanic's stats for Lyon:
Apps: 116 Goals: 15 Assists:13
