Let us not forget that Sandro is injured and will miss at least a couple of months at the start of the season and we will have other injuries so to have a bunch of midfielders of this calibre is excellant.

Assuming the ITK is correct:)

At least the impending transfer of Diarra suggests we will look to play two athletic players in the centre in Sandro and Diarra and also that we will look to push Modric further up the pitch to influence more in the oppositions third and hopefully get his goals and assists stats up.

It also means we will have a very strong base in which we can build our attacks upon and should also combat what we saw countless times last year of the opposition waltzing through our central midfield at ease.

I don't want to sound hopelessly negative, but what makes you think that Luka will be pushed forward? Into what position? And why has 'Arry not done this before, if he thinks it's a good idea? Are we going to drop Lennon, or VDV, or Bale or who?

It will be Lennon if anybody but yes, that this is the question, will Harry change our shape?

I like the idea of 4-2-3-1 and Harry has mentioned it but has said that we lacked a player who could play up front on their own, so maybe he will do it. We sort of seemed to be playing that yesterday with Pienaar off of the front man and Hudd and Jenas sitting in behind,. Obviously, none of those players is capable of playing that shape effectively and it should also be noted that the striker was Pav which means zero mobility or hold up play.

I'd certainly like to see Diarra and Sandro with Mods ahead of them and VDV and Bale on either side, it would have everything, goals, pace, power, creativity and guile as well as defensive solidity.

Everyone seems to have forgotten Hudd - who by all accounts made the team tick before his injury.

Look its a squad game now and if increasing the number of quality players in that squad actually prompts Redknapp to rotate a little more then all of our players will have a part to play, including Lennon, Krancjar and even jenas!!

Neither Modric or VDV are blessed with pace, so the striker would need to be quicksilver to compensate. And tall, because Modric, VDV and Diarra are right shortarses. Personally, I think the only reason 'Arry would want to buy Barton and Diarra is to stockpile the kind of players he likes, just as he has done for the last decade or so. People just don't change their natures.

I'm concerned by the sudden lack of striker talk. Hope the club have something up there sleeve as we I'll struggle next season without a proper number 9.

Ok, I'm going say it now, so that it's etched into the annuls of history.....

Joey Barton will cause friction in the squad, and will most likely leave us in acrimonious circumstances.

Why? Because that's what joey Barton does. Alway has, always will.

Average footballer, piss poor attitude. No thanks.

Agree fully, I hope he gets into a fight so end up in prison so we can't sign him.

I can believe the first three but you must surely be joking with the last fact

And I would be chief advocate for selling Modric at the right price.

However, I understand the limitation of movement caused by squad rules. So Barton > Diarra according to those rules. But better than forcing additional moves? I don't think so. And I did mention in my last sentence that I am not sure Harry can help keep him on track. That's the most significant part of "fix" crazy. The would worry me.

So, what you are saying is Barton is the exception(ally insane nutter) who proves the rule:shrug:

Sell Modric = :duh: /DEBATE
