When does the 25 man squad list need to be submitted.

Will it have any bearing on transfers, EA, For example. If he doesnt get a squad place at citeh then it must make him a tad more gettable ?

Diarra may be better than Palacios, but Palacios is 4th/5th choice at our club. He is probably better than Huddlestone, but Huddlestone is pretty good anyway and is 3rd choice. 1st choice are Modric and Sandro, neither of whom Diarra is better than. So we will be making a net loss (a pretty large on I'd imagine) to bring in a high wage earner to improve our strongest, most in depth part of the squad, on the one part of the pitch which one could say our starting two is as good as any other anywhere barring Barca.

Then you have Rossi. Very good player, far better striker than we have, but unless you think VDV is about to lose his place (which he isn't, by the way) then what is the point of signing a striker who cannot play alone. We have 4 of those already. Rossi is a superior version (based on last season alone and no other, by the way) of Defoe. However, he is also as useless to the system we are most likely to regularly use as Defoe. That's a pretty big waste of £30m. Obviously he's a top striker, but he's just not what we need and while I hope he rams those words down my throat, I can't see it happening unless he's paired with a big man (probably Crouch). That means either VDV on the right, or VDV not in the side, both of which are ridiculous suggestions.

Harry thinks he can....

BBLG I know what you're saying, but a speedy, quick, intelligent forward would be just as beneficial to our style of football as much as a big target man type. We just need someone to finish chances. To be fair from our targets and previous ITK it seems we're after a big man, a little man, an all-round central midfielder, a centre back and a winger that can score those infamous goals from the side and cover for Lennon and/or Bale.

I don't think Rossi is the only target by any means...wasn't there talk of breaking our transfer record 2 or 3 times over to show Luka the club's ambition? Things appear to be heating up.

I reckon Harry thinks he can convince Rossi to come. Villareal sold Cazorla to Malaga, and Villareal are a pretty small club so Rossi might feel they are on the way down and he might as well move now. Harry's job would be to convince Rossi we are on the way up and Villareal are on the way down, and we are the better short term and long term choice. Then show him the money!!!

In a nutshell yes...

I mean if we are seriously going to put in a bid for him we must have had some sort of feedback from Rossi's camp that the proposition will be seriously considered.

After the transfer window closes.

Same for Europe

Very serious. We wouldn't be pursuing if we didn't think we had a chance. However as has been said it's a very hard sell, will drag on, wouldn't say it's likely though.

Sorry Storts, are we still working on Mata or have we moved onto the chubby one?.....Thanks.

I think Rossi is a great player, but I have my doubts that he is the lone front man we need. I wouldn't be disgruntled if we signed him however.

Also, the nagging suspicion with Diarra is that unless he's guaranteed first choice he's likely to be a sulky little bitch.

I've only seen four or five games featuring Rossi, but I share your misgivings. Quality, yes, but the quality we need?

You would like o think so but then again we did bid for Aguero who was always going to reject us

Not quick enough for my liking, running out of time.

Let's not forget we probably won't see Sandro fully fit until mid November and that Huddlestone doesn't seem match fit and Jenas is Jenas so Diarra signing is vital. You don't play 39 games for Madrid in central midfield unless your half decent

23 days and just over 30mins. Still plenty of time

That 30 mins could be crucial

I'm just thinking say the Rossi bid is true these big deals take ages to complete, why not slap a bid in on the 1st of July? I'll never understand this transfer thing, it seems so simple but people make it so hard.

I think its possible that we dont have to go only one way. If we want to get a higher calibre of player we have to be flexibile in terms of how we can shape the side to get the optimum out of it.

An uber striker - brillant. A Rossi type (intelligent, movement, finishing) - still brillant if you ask me.

I still think we lacked serious movement from our forwards last season, not just finishing - but a lack of real movement, which affects the performances of others.

Yes a mobile target man should provide good movement to as well as offering the pyshical requirements but Rossi has fantastic movement, clever movement.

One way might be better than the other, but bottam line - still both improve us.

That's when we'll attempt to do all of our business!

have we not put bids in before?

cant remember who we have
we might have put bids in and had them rejected. Moved onto other targets and the same happened.

So gone back to Rossi with an improved bid.
