Agree with Adebayor, the jury is out for me on Parker if I'm honest. Problem is Parker is a bit injury prone and Ade is a bit moody. If we have got the Ade of 07-08 then I'm very confident that we can make a serious challenge for 4th, if it's the Ade of recent years then I'm a bit worried....

He'll be looking towards a big deal a year on so won't twat about.

Parker's a risk in the same sense that Woody was.

And this window makes all those late minute bids at the end of Jan total bull to my mind

Rob, mods, and everyone else involved in the running of the site over the summer: THANK YOU! Great job which must have taken up far too much of your time. Hope you have been rewarded well in donations.

They lost 2 though

Good point, my comment was tongue in cheek to be honest.

I'm not too disappointed at the transfers. Could have done with another CB and CF, but we have a good squad who can definately compete.

ENIC have made something like £240 million available to buy players in the past 5 years and it hasn't worked.

If I was running Spurs,I would be looking at the problem a different way.

Congrats to whoever is in charge of buying players and coaching players in our U19 team..........doing a great job.

Before this thread closes, I would also like to thank all Rob, A&C, Mods & RRs and the SC ITKs for making this TW entertaining.

I won't put any blame on any info from the ITKs that did not bear fruition as this info was not obtained directly from source but through various third parties. Even DL, if reports are correct, did not anticipate Bolton to shift the goalposts, at the last minute, in our bid to secure the deal for Cahill.

 Absolutely. I second every word of that.

I think it's fair to say that the club has tried to bring in some of the names mentioned, but they have all moved on to other clubs on much higher wages than what we can fit in our wage structure.

Who wouldn't like to see Aguero, Rossi, Falcao etc playing for us, but if we can't compete on wages without breaking the bank and doing a Leeds why should we?

I for one like the fact that our club is very financially secure, and I think we have upgraded our squad as best we could this window.

I would love to think we are going to switch to a genuine 4231, with players like Modric, VDV, Bale, Kranjcar, lennon, GDS competing for the "3", with Parker and Sandro in the "2", but Redknapp had the players to play this last year and didn't.

I honestly can't see him him taking Modric out of the CM pair.

I agree and looking at the squad now..........he has to give GDS a chance on the left or the new guy Falque (haven't seen the guy play) a chance on the right.

Team for me has to be;
----------Gomes----------
----Kaboul-----King------
Walker---------------Bale
-----Parker---Sandro----
--VDV-----Modric----Gio
----------Adebayor-----

Still not sure why it made sense not to agree an option to buy fee for him based on this? If he has a great season we'll all want to sign him but wont be able to because he'll be nearing end of contract and commanding a huge signing on fee plus wages - am I missing something...?

Whilst I share your appreciation of Crouch's work-rate, the '1' in the 4-2-3-1 has to be a consistent goalscorer, which Crouchinho, with the best will in the world, is not. Therefore, we had all the players for a 4-2-3-1 barring arguably the most important.

pretty poor all in all

I understand that some want to be upbeat particularly about not getting Cahill but you only need to look at how many goals we conceded against the 2 Manchester team and that is the defence the we have to look forward to

still between us and the goons for 4th but I think anyone can finish there and scousers may be favourite at this stage, alot may depend on what happens in January but not loking forwardf to going through all this again right now

It's not the defenders that is the problem, it's the set up of the team in front of them. You could put Cahill into the sides that lost against Man Utd/City and the results would be the same because there was no protection whatsoever from the midfield, particularly in the City game.

Fed up of people blaming solely our defence for that shit.

This Exactly - I dont tend to post often - Im more interested in hearing the news and opinions of other fans (I dont want to call mysef a lurker that just sounds weird)

But thanks to all the ITK's - however successful the ITK was it was entertaining, and all the mods for a good window. The end of window specials were great and I appreciate how much time must go into the upkeep of the forum.

Another ITK transfer window over. Every time it ends I lol at myself when thinking about all the ITK that was brandished. We really do love to engage in the fantasy of it all.

Bit annoyed about Cahill because PaddyPower had a market on him and I lost money on it.

Thanks to all the genuine ITKs who gave info in good faith. Although thought wpd659 to be a total fantasist with his hourly ITK from his source when people gave him some credence, and it annoyed me reading him.

With a disaffected Modric I don't think we are a good bet for top 4. So that makes it a very bad transfer window. Think we have slipped further behind, because harry 100% needs better players to get better results. He's not going to out fox them tactically :)

His previous with Nice, Arsenal and City suggests that he's liable to turn into a Grade-A dick after a season or two.

I agree with this. They were afforded next to no protection and were dragged all over the place.

What's this about Bolton shifting the goalposts at the last minute?

Apparently, according to ITK, we had the deal set up, based on two other deals and then they put the asking price up. Then when it was too late (or summit) they put the price back down. Or summit like that.

I agree and looking at the squad now..........he has to give GDS a chance on the left or the new guy Falque (haven't seen the guy play) a chance on the right.

Still don't think we'll see much of GDS.
Redknapp can be a bit like that, did the same with Nugent at Pompey. Once he freezes someone out, I think he is very reluctant to go back on it.
