0022: STILL no confirmation from Stoke that they have signed Peter Crouch from Tottenham. Crouch was at the Britannia a few hours ago so don't think that deal is in danger, unless they couldn't find him a pen.

One piece of ITK that had stuck in the back of my mind and I'd been clinging to this whole time was "Lesson's have been learnt".... Obviously not seeing as we still conduct our business last minute. Ade is a good signing and I've come around to Parker but I cant help but feel disappointed - these two could've been wrapped up months ago no big problem and at very least had a better chance of settling into the club before two massive defeats.

On the whole another shite window where we have basically tread water or slightly better. Something has to change...

I don't want to be depressing, I just can't see how Friedel, Parker and Adebayor are the main signings of a team trying to get back into the CL. Looks like we've given up and are going to accept 6th.

£474m spent by premier league clubs this transfer window. Our contribution to that figure .... £5m !

Put in perspective we sold (hopefully anyway) Crouch for 10 million, and replaced him with Adebayor on a loan. Now obviously a proper transfer had been the best option for the club, but I can't see this being a bad deal for anyone apart from Stoke.

Exactly this.

pretty poor all in all

I understand that some want to be upbeat particularly about not getting Cahill but you only need to look at how many goals we conceded against the 2 Manchester team and that is the defence the we have to look forward to

still between us and the goons for 4th but I think anyone can finish there and scousers may be favourite at this stage, alot may depend on what happens in January but not loking forwardf to going through all this again right now

Before this thread closes, I would also like to thank all Rob, A&C, Mods & RRs and the SC ITKs for making this TW entertaining.

I won't put any blame on any info from the ITKs that did not bear fruition as this info was not obtained directly from source but through various third parties. Even DL, if reports are correct, did not anticipate Bolton to shift the goalposts, at the last minute, in our bid to secure the deal for Cahill.

I like the optimism but 4th? really? I hope and pray we are there or thereabouts but I have a bad feeling we are in for a rough season, being a Spurs supporter should carry a health warning:grin:

I was careful with the wording. I said competing for 4th, and not we will get 4th.
I think it is too tight to call...if we had got Cahill in, and another striker, I think we would be clear favourites.

I would love to think we are going to switch to a genuine 4231, with players like Modric, VDV, Bale, Kranjcar, lennon, GDS competing for the "3", with Parker and Sandro in the "2", but Redknapp had the players to play this last year and didn't.

I honestly can't see him him taking Modric out of the CM pair.
