I honestly think it's too late for Gomes to turn the tide, the fans' would transmit their nervousness to him throughout games and would almost be waiting for a mistake.

FWIW i think he is Better than Freidel, for the things Friedel doesn't do, and is one of the best shot stoppers, but sadly a clean sheet with management does not mean a cleansheet with press and fans.

Your correct but at the same time I think it's a utter shame. The press I can understand with but I wish the fans could give a clean slate too... if Gomes got a few games under his belt and did well I would hope the fans could get behind him again...although it seems this is too late.

I'd be shocked if Moses was on the list, AVB needs intelligent players to fit his system, Moses isn't that. He's more of a powerhouse.

Really? I thought he came on leaps and bounds last year in what was, for the most part, a very poor team. He can play on either side of a front three so fits AVB's system and is very versatile, and probably wouldn't cost the earth. I reckon he could be a very useful squad player.

I agree with you re the communication aspect but I do believe he can speak English and that it helps that you have a French contingent in definite starters Kaboul and BAE ahead of him, coupled with Gallas and Bassong.

It will be a learning curve the Premier League no doubt and he will make mistakes like all 'keepers but his pro's far outweigh the con's and there is no other goalkeeper out there that is a realistic alternative that is a better prospect than Lloris.

French is also one of the official languages of Belgium, so I expect Verty has at least a smattering.

Yeah I just dont see him as a particularly intelligent player, none more so than Defoe really.

Apparently Wigan want around 12m for him. I would much prefer Hoilett and he wouldn't cost half of that.

That's a lot of money and I wouldn't want us to pay that. I think anything up to about 8m would be reasonable but that would be my limit.

We haven't heard anything on Hoilett in a while. Wasn't it locked on that he'd gone to Germany at one point? I'm sure I remember one of the ITKs saying that.

It's a problem with the opposition fans too though, they constantly jeer him and I think it makes him nervous. We need a keeper with the mental strength to recover from dips in form.

I still have high hope for Gomes, His 2nd season for us for key for our 4th place finish and Parks still rates him as the best Goalkeeper currently on our books.

I hope he shows some mental strength and under AVB's 'clean slate' can show us the form he once showed us.
However, a clean slate isn't a clean slate if we sign Llrois (Kinda clearly saying fuck off...)

He was heavily linked with a move to Borussia Monchengladbach, but according to Sky he's been in talks with 5 EPL teams, including us. Unfortunately there's been no mention of him being on our radar from anyone ITK recently.
