Obviously everyone is a risk.

But Lloris more than others: he's not very good at dealing with crosses, he makes good saves but gives up dangerous rebounds, and I'm not sure if he speaks English or not. For a GK that's huge because he relies on communication.

With AVB in charge we will have the majority of the possession in almost every game except against top 6 sides and Swansea. The other sides won't be really testing him (or Brad) often. when the sides look like scoring is with crosses and set pieces. They will rush the shit out of our goal. To make saves in situations like that seem like his weaknesses, to me.

I agree with you re the communication aspect but I do believe he can speak English and that it helps that you have a French contingent in definite starters Kaboul and BAE ahead of him, coupled with Gallas and Bassong.

It will be a learning curve the Premier League no doubt and he will make mistakes like all 'keepers but his pro's far outweigh the con's and there is no other goalkeeper out there that is a realistic alternative that is a better prospect than Lloris.

I think Gomes would have made a great keeper if he had a better mentality, some of his reactions to the slightest of knocks were cringeworthy and I think a lot of his gaffes were due to lack of confidence as opposed to anything else, a Gomes with a better mentality would be great

I still have high hope for Gomes, His 2nd season for us for key for our 4th place finish and Parks still rates him as the best Goalkeeper currently on our books.

I hope he shows some mental strength and under AVB's 'clean slate' can show us the form he once showed us.

Persistent talk of VDV leaving was starting to do my bloody tree in!

Tell me about it, some tool at work has just come over to me just this minute saying VDV is going this summer. So I've told him to put his money where his mouth is, feeling confident after JJ's words.

I honestly think it's too late for Gomes to turn the tide, the fans' would transmit their nervousness to him throughout games and would almost be waiting for a mistake.

FWIW i think he is Better than Freidel, for the things Friedel doesn't do, and is one of the best shot stoppers, but sadly a clean sheet with management does not mean a cleansheet with press and fans.

2 good bits of ITK. Keeping VDV and closing in on Lloris.

Friedel will not suit the high line. He's not quick enough off his line and his distribution isn't the best either. He has been a great servant for us but I think he'll leave if Lloris comes in (hasn't missed a EPL game in a few years and I doubt he'll want to sit on the bench yet).

There really is no need to sell VDV. He's a key player and our youngsters will need his experience around the locker room. He has to be one of the contenders for the captaincy.

Something still doesn't add up for me about VDV staying. Signing Sigurdsson as the new boss's first signing, for £10 million doesn't suggest to me a player who's going to sit on the bench and replace VDV for the last 20 minutes every week, nor would I see Van Der Vaart being happy to do the reverse. Allied to our interest in Oscar, another who plays in the number 10 position, the amount of speculation in the press both here and in Germany that he's off, and the fact that his value will only decline in the next couple of years leads me to believe that we're at least open to offers for him. I very much hope not.

Not going to put a negative mark down, but there is really no need for that is there? A positive note from the poster and you lay into them? Was it meant as a joke that didn't sound funny?

if you read a bit further down hoops you'd've seen the explanation, and a friendly rating from the abused poster in question. I don't think it was overly harsh actually, and suggest you keep your f****** nose out. ;) (this smiley means sarcasm in this context for the rest of youse dumb t******)

Or that AVB has heard of squad rotation and realises that since Kranky left we have barely anyone who can play the VDV role.

jase_ace_uk on SO:

Re. Moses. I think he would be excellent to challenge right across the front line and even central midfield. The guy is pretty good. Would rather have him than Hoillett tbh.

AVB of THFC in the EPL (suceeded by RDM at CFC) in the UK, wants to sell VDV back to RM because we THFC arent in the UCL?
(Im going to post that on a US chatroom for a laugh.....)

I read posts from the top down and not the bottom up, as I don't read books from back to front. I saw the reply, which was posted after me I think (or at least at the same time). That could just as easily have been aimed at me, because I can't honestly be arsed to check how to spell Aqua's name every time.

Edit - I don't know you

What an absolutely pleasant person you are.

are we on supremely crossed wires or what? I am a nice(ish) person, I said something in jest and you've either not got it or ignored (both) explanatory posts.

perhaps you can't read: ";) (this smiley means sarcasm in this context for the rest of youse dumb t******)"
I feel for you (y)

I'd be shocked if Moses was on the list, AVB needs intelligent players to fit his system, Moses isn't that. He's more of a powerhouse.
