I didn't take his first tweet to mean that Lennon was one that was leaving. It read like he was saying "Lennon? Really? Who would we possibly get to replace him?"

You didn't really.
We have yet to achieve outright CL qualification. We have made the qualifying round once. That meant we couldn't even budget for being in the CL because we may have been knocked out before we even made the group stage (we nearly were) - not that making the CL outright once would make a lot of difference because contracts last 4/5 years normally, so you can't make a plethora of big commitment signings based on one years projected revenue.
You also seem to ignore the fact that Redknapp spent over 100m in his first three/four windows and largely bought a bunch of players who were decent but limited. Nearly 50m went on Keane, Defoe and Crouch for example. Meaning not just transfer cash, but also a lot wages were tied up.

As much as we all appreciate Akqayid and his info, he needs to be more careful when he throws around names, his 'hypotheticals' are written in exactly the same manner as his 'itk', it's not going to help him in any way and people are going to get more and more arsey with him. I don't think he's doing it deliberately, but there is something that isn't sitting quite right with me about him atm, maybe i just don't like his writing style, or I'm suspicious of anybody who spends £400 on duff Olympic tickets off craigslist.

To be fair to him it's his own twitter account and he can write what he likes. He usually sticks a #scitk at the end if it's meant to be taken literally.

To his defense, Vertonghen isn't technically strengthening as he replaces King. Doesn't matter if he's a great player......still a step down from the King. But few defenders in history would be a strengthening over Ledley
Vertongehn is better than the King he ended up replacing. King was a piss poor shadow of his best last season. We've strengthened.
