I think POTL was just making the point that team selections aren't made yesterday. They are chosen a few hours before kickoff.

I'm sure he knows Ade will play but to assume he's a definite starter yesterday is silly.

If he doesn't start today I'd be disappointed.

According to the Mirror, Niang has signed for Everton for £2m

That fee seems ridiculously low for someone so highly rated. Surely if that's true, we'd be all over him. Not sure what to think on this. Been linked for a while, then after the photo afternoon yesterday, links seem to have intensified, right as the press claim he's gone elsewhere. If he's coming in instead of Damiao, I'd be wholly underwhelmed, however if he is coming in as well as, then that's be a huge winner. Defoe continues to gather rumours about being unsettled, and leaving, despite AVB's interview to the contrary. We all know as much as he's a club favourite, he doesn't quite suit the one up top system. Having Adebayor and Leandro with Niang and Kane on the fringes would set us up nicely.

I saw some clips today, he seems very right footed and more of a Lennon replacement/alternative. Drifting inside, beating a man with step overs and pace (rather than just pace). Plus he looks tough and up for a battle. They kick the crap out of each other in the Brazilian league, and seems the big lump Soviet defenders do that to him in the Ukraine too.

In theory, would we sign a player to compete with/cover for, Lennon for the kind of money the press are reporting? I've not seen anything of the guy to pass comment on whether he'll take over starting from Lennon, or provide cover, but since the media are reporting £20m, that's a big fee when we still haven't addressed replacing Modric, or tied up the elusive second striker.

Much rather Dawson go to Sunderland than QPR. Fucking hate those pikeys.

I'm sure I read in one of the papers yesterday, that QPR, Stoke and Sunderland were the three clubs interested, with the latter the only one he'd really be interested in, but as yet Sunderland had not made a bid. Maybe things have moved forward since.

The problem I have with people pestering JJ is we cross that dangerous line between ITK and opinion.

Not to mention I reckon it pisses him off.

But traditionally, if there's something new, it's shared at that point. If you keep asking X, Y and Z and JJ doesn't know anything on that subject, then it invites a guess or a negative response.

I'm wary of sanctioning these Q & A type things from an accuracy point of view.

I don't see what the issue is.

I asked him a question last night - would I be right in saying that we won't sign anyone until later next week. He replied, and that was that. I'm sure it was largely opinion, but it's an informed opinion that I and plenty of other people respect. JJ is smart enough to reply to the questions he wants to, and avoid those he doesn't. When he's had enough he says so.

The only possible issue I can see the mods having would be if they know JJ is a club representative that is stringing the fans along, but I can't see that being the case.

It was. Sadly JJ changed his mind.

Questions is indeed the problem. See Stoof's post above, but not only that, it was making the thread impossible to follow as well as making the actual info/context of info almost impossible to keep up to date.

It's one of the things we're probably going to put a stop to on SC when we revamp, I don't think there's much we can do about the Q&A's on Twitter but we can certainly influence it on here.

But this is the point A&C. ITK's have the GOAT if they want to avoid questions. They also have the option of saying "I don't want to answer anymore questions". Discouraging intercourse (the best woody word) is against the ethos of this place.

It was clearly this attempt to try and dictate to certain ITK how and what they can do - effectively putting more limitations on them than an average member - that pissed them off.

Probably already mentioned, but Moutinho is a fail safe contingency option on the basis that he has a release clause which we could trigger at any time - deadline day being one of those times. If we haven't got anything in by then, who knows. Levy may well have to bite the bullet and pay that price. Truth is, that's the easiest way to get him. Just a shame it'll apparently cost over £30m.

Don't think of it money wise, especially if we sell Modric. Think of it as a player player swap, however, I think it would be a very good one for use, seeing as ratty doesn't want to play for us again and his teddy is currently entering geostationary orbit after been thrown from the pram, whereas, Mountino, is obliviously a very good player and one that has worked with AVB and knows his system, also it is player than can pass on his knowledge personally to those around him so he can tell and show them exactly what he expects.

I really think Levy should bit the bullet and hit the buy out clause and get him ASAP, with a name like that coming it could trigger others to push to come, rather than leaving it last minute.

POTL said:
Are you allowed to pass comment on so called other 'itks'? I would like to if I can? Just to say one thing, anyone claiming they know the team is not being truthful because at 11.55am because the starting 11 hasn't been told to the team, so unless AVB is posting which I know he isn't you make your mind up.
I will give you the facts beginning Monday. Big week for us. Defining week perhaps- Daniel was at the lodge yesterday to run through the plan for the week, if we don't get our top targets we have contingency plans in place, we will sign. And players will leave.

Enjoy the game today.

Not necessarily silly. Granted, I'm sure the entire team does not know who will be starting. But I'm sure it happens quite often where manager takes player aside day before game, asks him how he is feeling, lets him know he is going to start, etc. Especially in Ade's case, where he would want to be sure he is match fit and mentally ready for the season w/ no preseason.

I guess what I'm getting at, Ade very well may know he is starting today even if the team sheet isn't released until close to kickoff.

If/when Moses joins Chelski, this might open a door for Sturridge?
I think it's a certainty the door will open for Sturridge, not necessarily for us. I expect Willian is higher on the list for us but wouldn't be surprised if come deadline day we don't have Willian (or Isco) then there may be a late move for Sturridge. I'm not sure Chelsea would sell to us though.

The Liverpool poster who has been posting updates on Nuri Sahin (Toela?) has said that they're after Sturridge.

I'd actually really like Sturridge - he's not the finished article by any means but he's got a shedload of potential, as seen by how well he did under AVB last season. Although I do get the impression he's a royal pain in the arse.

Disappointed were not in for Dembele. would of been a good player here IMO.

Agree. Getting very concerned about our targets for Modric replacement. At present moment, feels like it is either Moutinho (who I believe is unattainable due to price) or this Isco kid. Although I think Isco can be the business for us in years to come, just don't see him being to fill that roll this year considering it's not his natural position and will be coming to new league/country.

I saw that, but is The Mirror reliable? I fantastic bargain for Everton if it is true. It would be a no brainer for us if we could get him for that. Think about the future strikers.
Souleymane Coulibaly and M'Baye Niang! WOW!!
No love for Kane?

I seem to recall reading that Liverpool were after him but he prefers Spurs.

Indeed. Isco a more natural replacement for VdV than Modric. I'd dearly love to sign him but he alone wouldn't do.

Very surprised that JJ has poo poohed Dembele. Then again I suppose it's vaguely conceivable that he's trying to throw people off the scent :cautious:

Sturridge could be a very good signing, but I agree that getting him from Chelski won't be easy. He's got masses of ability and is so fast. Wolcott with a brain.

If we don't get a replacement for Modric, I wouldn't mind having Mammadou Diarra as a short term replacement. Experienced and an exciting midfielder.
