That's rather over-simplifying what was already a very simple point: they have a great team spirit and don't give up.[/quote]

yet they're still level points with us and had been drawing for fun before today...the fact of the matter is had we seen that out better in the last few mins their post match thoughts would be completely different...our mistakes gifted them that, not real invention and cutting edge on their part.

I think the official figure is 9 points, which would put us in 2nd place.

Newcastle away - Ben Arfa 80m pen
WBA - Morrison 90m
Norwich - Snodgrass 85m
Man City - Dzeko 88m
Everton - Pienaar 90m & Jelavic 90m

Thats just bloody terrible I thought we had improved this under Harry's reign.

I think only so much you can blame the manager for, sometimes the players just get sloppy and make mistakes. I thought our work rate was excellent today and we contained Fellaini and Pienaar very well until the end.

For some reason that little bastard Coleman always does us in!

Fair enough I did over simplyfy it but it still doesn't make it their year yet though does it? Despite their team spirit they've lost leads in the last 15 minutes of games recently against Norwich, Reading, and Fulham. Granted, it's not as bad as us in terms of gifting late goals, but I do disagree with the idea that they're team spirit is so amazing it will drive them to the CL spots because despite their smiles and the comeback today, they have shown they are prone to doing what we did today.

The strange thing is that last year we had the 5th best defensive record, the year before 8th, and the year before 5th. So where does the "leak goals at an alarming rate" argument lie?
All premiership boats have holes. It's just we have had less than others. There's a certain pride in sinking a little later on than the rest.:)

I would love to think of a really funny, clever reply to this - but you have me beat, hands down!
Please turn down your brain, and give the rest of us a chance.

I agree, Mr Pink. Just heard that wanker Hansen saying Everton are great to watch. Basically all they did was pump long balls at us after we went ahead.

Guys, we might've leaked goals, but I think it's not he fault of our defense, at least today.

If Ade and the rest of our attacking players would stop giving away the ball so cheaply it would put less pressure on them.

Ade is still so-so but I liked what I saw. Generally cohesive but all the poor passes cost us.

We can't keep inciting teams to attack, especially when we only lead by one.

AVB seems to know our leakage of goals, so I have faith things will come good, unlike many other matches including ones we've won (Saints, Liverpool etc) this time we looked like we had some direction.

At the start I was expecting either a loss or a draw, so no big deal. I'd have liked the win but on the past 15 games, we haven't shown we'd deserve it or be expected to despite our players and league position.

The next run of games, however I am expecting wins. No reason to lose to Swansea, Villa, Sunderland, Reading or QPR. Stoke, if it's away, I'd hope for a draw, home, a win. COYS

How many of those games did Dembele finish?

Our only chance of finishing top 4 will be because unbelievably there are 16 teams worse than us in the league.

Worst thing I saw yesterday was Sandro's reaction when they equalised. Have to feel for the guy who works so hard for the team in every game only to be let down by sloppy play by his team mates.

Also pleased that AVB acknowledged the inability to close out games and said they are openly talking about it, even mentioning the top of the league stat. You can be sure himself and the back room team will be analysing all of those games to try and rectify it.

Better late than never eh...

If Kabs, BAE, Parker and until recently Ade had been fit then yes he could have done. They haven't been though so unless you really want to see an H type, rejigging with genuine fringe players put into pivotal roles in those games, then he couldn't really. If he had he'd have been called a bullshitter for saying he was taking the Europa seriously etc and we might be out of Europe again which would have pleased many. There again, having a decent run in Europe isn't a bad thing for our coefficent, on the off chance we do qualify for the CL at some distant point in the future.

Frankly, our squad has been gutted over the summer.

We should have sacrificed Europe - again - I guess but that we can't genuinely compete in two comps doesn't bode well and the problems it exposes aren't down to AVB either. We need a DoF in pronto. I'd even settle for that being the only Jan signing moving forwards. DL isn't up to it.

One point id like to make about the experience of playing in the Europa league. All those saying we should sacrifice it are blind.
We all want to reach the champions league? Yes.
Do we have to play midweek games in the champions league on top of weekend premier league games? Yes.
We all want to take the champions league seriously when we get there? Yes.
So why not get the squad/team into the habit of performing for every single game, the habit of playing epl and ucl games back to back, learn the art of good rotation, and the habit of winning every single game?
We are all here for the long haul not a short
Fix... See the bigger picture and play the long game for success...

Yes Ade was useless and failed to hold the ball up at all. Agree it's not the failing of the defenders as such- though Caulker ignoring Lloris's call and booting the ball out to an Everton player didn't help- but the team as a whole failing to keep possession and by doing that permitting waves of attacks. We need to stop that. Yesterday, Ade and Lennon did nothing to help that and we got even worse at it when Dembele went off.

see the blame game is in full flow.

Grow some people - you win some and loose some - we will learn from games like yesterday - its still early days for this AVB team.

Europa league had a large effect on the stamina of the team in the last quarter at Goodison IMHO.

Hmmm...technically we should have already learnt from the numerous times it has happened already.

You can be more positive if you wish Steve, but you also have to let people have their rant, what happened yesterday isn't a one off is it?

Also I think it's better for our coefficient if we do well in the EL.

Quick questions for those that watched the game, when Hudd came on for Lennon, did Dempsey move to the right?

What system was we playing with Hudd, Dembele, Sandro, Dempsey, Ade, and Defoe as the midfield/front 6?
