BILD: Tottenham officials in Doha to speak with Schalke's Lewis Holtby. Contract of £67k per week offered to player

Didn't Schalke's chairman come out and say a couple of days ago that it would be better for all concerned if Holtby found a club in January?

Yes he did. He wouldn't be a fit chairman if he didn't try and get some money for the player. But it's grandstanding as he must suspect that there will be no City type bid. I'm sure if we went in for 10 million euros, he would sell. But we're not going to do that. Nobody will. So he throws out the comment to see if anybody bites. But if we offer him 2 million, I would bet good money that he wouldn't accept it.

So Neil Easton was trending last night on twitter. Anyone would think the little lamb want's his ego stroking again. Sad very, very sad.

Have you heard anything about him? You seem to be a man with sources....

agree with livermore. also told he asked about dawson but was offered gallas.

That's interesting. While I imagine Gallas is on a bit more than Dawson, the former has something to offer to our current setup; whereas the latter, a loyal servant to the club, is basically just filling quota space with the way we play.

I would prefer that we do the right thing by Dawson and let him go somewhere to play. He's been good to us. I don' t want to fuck about with the lad.

Thanks J

Just that apparently the guy who's DM'd it is an Arsenal MWS, I'd love to find out who it is that's "heard" what.

Think you lot need to cut them some slack, they're adults with good jobs, good lives they don't need to cushion their egos making up shit.

I agree with the sentiment but didn't Dawson turn them down already? Something happened anyway because I thought the fee was agreed. I'm not sure flogging him to a club that is in all likelyhood going to be relegated is doing Dawson any favours.

He won't sign as we can't sign him.... We can't approach until end of season, unless it was a cash offer to buy him now - and the Gooners will NEVER accept an offer from us.

Not until March. That's a big gamble for them to take.

If Rossi's half the player he was before he got crocked then £13 million is a justified deal. Even he gets back to the same ability as before then he'll be worth double that easily.

It's a brave move from Fiorentina but a good one, imho.

I would have agreed with you on that at the start of the season, but I don't think I do now. For me, Daws has improved the more he's played so far this year. He's still not the quickest, but he's been very, very solid and AVB clearly sees him as the perfect defender for taking on the long ball teams. And considering AVB seemed to want to take him to the vet and have him put to sleep rather than play him at the start of the season, he must have seen huge changes too.
