Never understood why Sol Campbell received so much hate, maybe it was because I was fairly young at the time.
He left us for a better team whilst staying in the local area. When he played for us he was surrounded by very, very poor players on the whole. He left us to subsequently play in the greatest team of Premier League history.
Good luck with your job etc
For me it's because he wasn't honest, having come through the ranks and a leader, you would expect better behaviour, with his actions he also denied us a sizeable fee.
Had he been honest and said he was going to leave, best sell me to get something or I will run my contract down and leave for nothing, then it would have been ok.
It was never that he wanted to leave, it's the way he went about it...
Sheringham was an example of a player who left to win things, but did it in a better manner and was welcomed back
