Sky Andrews never dealt with us again after Sol...It is sometimes worth making the statement 'this is what happenes if you f.... us' even if it seems self defeating. It protects the clubs long term business reputation. Barrnett will be able to retire on Bale alone so what does he care, but the club make it's statement to the agent fraternety perhaps

And siggy, while much improved, could be upgraded to Pjanjic for just a few million then in AVB's football vision it will happen. Siggs is a decent technician and has a rocket strike but AVB's football is all about control of the ball under high pressure and 'provoking' tightly packed defences to unpick them- this is why there will be a steady move away from physically powerful players (caulker, naughton, parker, defoe, lennon, dawson...and eventually even sandro, walker) and technicans brought in whenever possible.

I keep getting the feeling we are going to oversell now. In essence we're going to sell off all the depth, even if it's only decent depth, and only bring in 4 faces. To me, that's a huge mistake. We were finally building a well-rounded club that appeared to have a couple options at each position.

Now, it's looking more and more likely as it was last season. A starter goes down and then we're really struggling. Caulker leaving only makes sense if he was pushing his way out. But, if that's the case, a replacement player needs to be brought in of similar quality.

If we sell Bale and then only bring in two players (Coentrao and say Di Maria for shits), that's fine. It'd give us good depth at LB and at RW we could have Di Maria and Townsend.

I'm growing worried that we get a little sell-crazy and then all the sudden we're looking at one guy covering two positions which can sometimes work but often times you play with fire and you get burnt.

AVB will get the 23/24 player squad he's after. I just feel it in my balls. DL is backing this guy. We won't be left short.

I don't think we as a club have done much wrong..... Yet. I think the problem we have is we've all been here before with spurs..... We know how it usually ends

He's a decent player, but far from irreplaceable. It's about principles, Barnett has fucked us over, I'd be fully behind DL if he chose to cut all ties.

The thing is, Levy probably wouldn't replace him. He's probably going to be so focused on figuring out a RF replacement that we will go into the season with our LF options as Chadli and Lennon. Huge fan of Chadli as you know and I think he will adapt quickly, but should he go down we're looking at playing Lennon there who let's be honest, is a not-so-good fit for the 4-3-3.

Siggy gave us options. He could play in the LF position of the 4-3-3 or as the most advanced midfielder (Where he looked fantastic spraying the ball around against South China). In the 4-2-3-1 he can play in the hole or on the left.

Luckily we have Holtby that could benefit from Siggy being gone, but unless we're adding another player to fill that versatile void, I'm not going to be pleased. And, I'm a big fan of Siggy and I really think he's got a lot more to show for the club.

What concerns me is we are dismantling the squad as the season looms closer.

There's going to have to be a lot of action over the next week etc...look at our CB situation.

Death by a thousand cuts.

Must say our club sounds like a madhouse behind closed doors
It's always been that way though, we've always been a highly political club behind the scenes, it's probably been one of the reasons we haven't had more success. Whether JJ's source is right about Franco or not, the fact that someone high (Sherwood?) is against him, is already bad news for us.

Hudd: 5 mill
Naughton: 3 mill
BAE: 7 mill
Dempsey: 6 million
Parker: 3 million
Ade: 8 million

Absolute guesstimates but that's £30 million there and none of the prices seem ridiculous? Add that to £9 million for Caulker...

We would of have a lot of money to spend, add in potentially Bale's money and we can seriously do some damage... Even keeping GB we can afford Coentrao (if we are to believe that they owe us for Modrat)

Plus the £50 milllion loan and TV rights.

All this info is frying my brain..

Tl;dr we have enough money to go crazy and challenge for the title and keep Bale.
And if they would sell Sig for £10 or so, that would give them almost £50 mill just on sales, which I believe would totally cover Soldado, Paulinho, and Chadli. So who the heck are they going to spend the Bale money on?

I may just be being pessimistic but a big part of me is now thinking that while the board entered this TW with great intentions and really were willing to spend and build a great team around Bale, now that Bale doesn't want to be around (supposedly), they are just going to say, " oh, screw it. Let's just make some money." I really hope I am wrong but all these grand plans discussed earlier this summer were predicated on Bale being here and if he's not, then do those grand plans go completely out the window?

And I'd be fine if we sold a lot of our mediocre players and gave players the opportunity to step-up from the U21 team and fulfill that role of adding depth to the squad, but you know that won't happen and in the end it'll just be the Dempsey's and Holtby's asked to play multiple positions where they aren't comfortable.

I'd like to hope so. But, we've been here before haven't we? The needs appear obvious and then we don't address them. Then, when things look like we're getting the needed player (Leandro/Moutinho) we get Clint Dempsey.

If Bale and Siggi both leave I really expect us to bombard the creative midfielder market.

Yeah, it's not a good thing when players start looking over their shoulder wandering if they are next. Hopefully each player knows where they stand, but it's hard to imagine every one of them do.

If we can bring in Chiriches or any other decent CB that position will be fine. I'm just so worried this will be the striker position of last year.

NOT Sherwood!!
No agenda against Baldini I'm just very sceptical of the role with our Chairman!!

Cheers for the Q&A session JJ.

I would be upset if Siggy left but i would understand. We could get a good fee for him and it would help clear out the logjam at CAM with Holtby, Dempsey, Chadli etc playing there but i feel like keeping Siggy would be better than keeping say... Dempsey.

Soldado is the game changer - 28 yrs old/30 mill. Our rule book has been incinerated.

I thought this is why they all went to Bahamas?? To chill out and know what the club's plans for them are!!

Think Caulker was not in that plan!! I mean they should know what is expected to happen with them this transfer window, no??

If we're even remotely thinking about selling siggy than Real Madrid would be more than welcome to throw in Özil ;)
