And I'd be fine if we sold a lot of our mediocre players and gave players the opportunity to step-up from the U21 team and fulfill that role of adding depth to the squad, but you know that won't happen and in the end it'll just be the Dempsey's and Holtby's asked to play multiple positions where they aren't comfortable.

Our U21s had a fantastic season last year but in my mind the only one really ready to make the jump is Carroll. Ceballos might be as well but I still think the jury is out if he might need a loan before he is ready. Luckily, we still have Townsend around who is versatile (but it sounds like he could be on the chopping block soon) so that does help some things.

I just get worried that we do what we have done far too often in the past where we look to have our shit in order then we make a couple of sales and turn a strength into a huge question mark.

To be trophy winners and title challengers these days it usually requires some combination of depth and good fortune. We all know the good fortune shit is thrown out the window before the season starts, so we really need to have quality depth everywhere.

The thing is, Levy probably wouldn't replace him. He's probably going to be so focused on figuring out a RF replacement that we will go into the season with our LF options as Chadli and Lennon. Huge fan of Chadli as you know and I think he will adapt quickly, but should he go down we're looking at playing Lennon there who let's be honest, is a not-so-good fit for the 4-3-3.

Siggy gave us options. He could play in the LF position of the 4-3-3 or as the most advanced midfielder (Where he looked fantastic spraying the ball around against South China). In the 4-2-3-1 he can play in the hole or on the left.

Luckily we have Holtby that could benefit from Siggy being gone, but unless we're adding another player to fill that versatile void, I'm not going to be pleased. And, I'm a big fan of Siggy and I really think he's got a lot more to show for the club.

Townsend can play either flank. Lennon can do a job on the left aswell, I'm pretty sure if Lennon got used to the system he could provide adequate cover for Chadli.

So there's the 3 players that would come in if Bale went out....

1st is a LB - coentrao.
2nd is a Winger - not sure, but we would all like it to be Lamela or Di Maria.
would the 3rd be a CB?

NOT Sherwood!!
No agenda against Baldini I'm just very sceptical of the role with our Chairman!!

JJ quick question about the potential Bale deal. Is Morata a possibility, don't know why he would agree to leave Real after signing a five year contract and clearly being told that he will be given more responsibility this season.

Also please rubbish the Suarez rumours, he is a great footballer but I would rather our club's name not be dragged through the mud anymore than it has to be.

JJ do you think we need another striker after soldado? Or we looking to keep our 3?
Also after the under 21/"s were successful last year are those same players going to step up a level in the heirarchy and be loaned in our structure or are they more likely to be left to match last years achievements? Ceballos looked exciting tonight.

I have no idea what is going on. We seem to be clueless as a club and the whole thing feels like we are imploding. If AVB is really wanted by other clubs it may be he is off as well this window. Why stay at a club that appears to be in such turmoil

I alluded to Townsend in a post after that one and so long as we keep him we're lucky to have his versatility on the wings as our backup options last year were far too different from our starters to expect a cohesive style of play when the starters went down.

I'm still not convinced about Lennon. Honestly, given his age and his limitations, I would sell him before Siggy. To some that may be crazy, but I'm more convinced about Siggy adapting to multiple positions moving forward as opposed to Lennon.

Watch us start the season with Chadli, Soldado and Lennon as our front 3. If that's the case, Lennon better improve his crossing and simply get the ball near Soldado.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concept of Baldini being nothing but a mouthpiece for Levy. It just does not compute, he's been around the block, with two stints at Roma, one stint at Madrid and the England Assistant Manager job. He'd not join us just to be Levy's puppet.

Actually think Soldado will get on very well with Lennon. One of Soldado's main strengths is anticipating the cut-back and that's something Lennon does often (though usually with nobody in the right area to profit). Would sell him before Siggy though, I agree.

I could actually see Townsend starting RF in 4-3-3 ahead of Lennon, but thats a different debate. I was just pointing out that we do have cover for the LF slot.

If Bale goes, AVB will want Hulk.....

Lamela and Dzagoev would be better buys. If we want to sell Siggy, Dzagoev would make a ton of sense but he could give us starting talent on the RF position in Bale's absence but still be that versatile AM/Winger type.

My hope of the Top 4 has all but gone. Another Shit window, another cock up. Do we ever learn?
We've sold Caulker which looks a good deal price wise but now we hardly have any fit defenders. Our only player which big teams are afraid of is leaving in Bale.

Christ I hate spurs at times....

The impression I got was that Daniel Levy would find it hard not to interfere with the day to day business, not that Baldini was aware of it when he signed.
