I also trust the man but in the first three games of the season, I have not seen an ounce of forward thinking momentum from Dembele, when Capoue and Paulinho have been in the side.
I can only point the finger at him as that is how AVB keeps setting up the side.

We needed Holtby out there today as he would have gave us a much needed edge in the final third. I mean, how many attempted through balls or forward thinking balls did you actually see from the three central midfielders?

If we weren't going to do it through the middle, we had to do it out wide yet both Towsend and Chadli spent almost the whole game coming inside.

He set us up to try and not lose, rather than try and win.
What are you on about. Last season Dembele built a partnership with Sandro and then had to have Parker behind him with Bale in front. This season he's playing in a different position (which I think is only temporary) and has two new faces behind him he has to try and work with. Sandro isn't quite ready to start yet so what other alternative would you propose apart from Capoue. In case you hadn't noticed we need an enforcer to protect the back line and presently only Capoue and Sandro fit that profile.

Yes Holtby coming on would have been much appreciated but I ask you this: Would you start a player who's just coming back from injury and has barely had any serious game time? Not forgetting that the injury to Capoue didn't help either because we had no option but to replace him with Sandro. Defoe coming on was not a bad idea if he and Holtby had been brought on but as the injury occurred after, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that Capoue's injury threw a major spanner in the works.

Townsend and Chadli are inverted wingers. Their job IS to cut inside. That's why we have wingbacks to go forward and supply the crosses while our DM tracks back to bolster the defensive line. The issues you're raising makes me think you don't quite understand our style of play yet.

What is it with defensive midfielders? Parker misses half a season then Sandro misses half a season. Now it does not look good for Capoue.

My best wishes are with Capoue and I really hope it's not as serious as first feared. It's bad enough getting injured anytime but so early in his Spurs career is a bitter blow.

Thought it was funny that the ref happily gave the foul in Walker by the corner flag, but not the more obvious foul on Soldado which was coincidentally inside the box

I think paulinho looks much better playing for brazil because he gets so much more space to try a shot with defenses worrying about their flair players in front of him. Here they just close him down quickly

I hope to god that baldini and avb have sussed walker out.Go and buy a bloody right back!

Several times I was screaming at the TV because of him. It's just like last season. Has the pace to burn off most when defending but instead tries to out muscle them and gives away a free kick. In attack he could have tried to play the early ball but didn't even try. He might be fast and strong but he has the football intelligence and vision of a coma patient.

Yes losing to the scum hurts but we are pretty much a new team and it is going to take time for players to gel & get used to playing with each other. This win will convince wenger that he doesn't need to buy! I'm confident that we have better squad than them! Another striker & left back tomorrow would be good but after window we have had we can't complain too much if we don't sign anyone tomorrow.
Just on way home from game so don't know how seriously injured capoue was hope it isn't too serious! It's early days but must say Ive not been that impressed by Chadli. But he needs time to adapt.

Alltight, i have calmed down now and no longer as pissed off.

3 "enforcers" in midfield is not the way forward. We need to revert back to a 4-2-3-1 with sandro/capoue and dembele/paulinho as our holding to midfielders with holtby/eriksen in the hole for added creativity.

Lamela must start, and we need a premium lwf with chadli as backup. Our rb and lb have a terrible end end product, and they need to be drilled hard at training.

Soldado

New lfw - eriksen - lamela

Paulinho - sandro

Rose - verts - kaboul - walker

Lloris

This is the way forward, and Daws not good enough. Hopefully our fullbacks improve their end product, they are still young so wont slate em to much.

By the looks of it I think Capoue has maybe torn ligaments. Don't look good.

We need to replace Chadli. I know only three games have gone but he's been with us for a while, and has not done one thing to make me think he's anywhere near good enough. Eriksen in for dembele, lamela for townsend.

Not too dissappointed, but i still think we need a LB and LW. Sorry, neg rep away

Disappointed in the result, but came away encouraged by what i saw. Once the new guys settle in we will be in good shape, its a big ask to think we will challenge with 50% of the team new to the PL. If we can get some decent service in the final 3rd the goals will come.

Really hope Capoue isnt as bad as it looked.

rose cant cross to save his life.

walker is brain dead and only his physical attributes and super pace gets him out of grief. worrying.

Rose up against Walcott and Walker up against Santi C. I wouldnt say either of them lost their individual battles to day.
Walker also set up the best chance for Soldado with the cut back in the first half.
Rose's crossing is no worse then any other of our players today.

I still think Paulinho should be more advanced. I didn't like seeing Dembele play further forward. Although I'm interested to see how Eriksen can do in there.

I love Dembele (see avatar) but he is a way better player regaining possession, sitting deeper in a two and bringing the ball forward (box to box). His partnership with sandro was perfect. But paulinho is also a box to box player and probably above him in the pecking order so he'll be on the bench and play in the cups I reckon. Pretty sad for him really given how immense he was last season.
Sandro is first choice dm too imo.

Come on then, tell me what Chaldi brings to the team. What did he do today?
Whoever disagree's, instead of mindless ratings, how about some words?

Personally think it's far too soon to judge Chadli properly. He clearly needs time to adjust to the pace of the Premiership and to get used to those around him.

Still very early days for Chadli .
