The slow play and lack of movement are more than just cracks, they are simply fundamental.

The way we started today after what we should have learned playing against united was just horrible tbh.

Can't be defended.

Hoping for more of what we saw against united in the games to come.

I think it's the gameplan cos nothing's changing

To be honest I have lots of opinions about AVB, some good and some bad, however what I refuse to be is some dickhead fan that would rather act like a penis than be a decent fan.

You may have missed it, but there are plenty of examples of said penises in this thread.

See, that's what I don't get. Fans are fans forever-AVB is a hired employee.

Our fans are not penises. They support our club, and don't like what they are seeing.

Even you are not sure,"To be honest I have lots of opinions about AVB, some good and some bad" ; so why hate on people with a strong decisive opinion.

We have decent fans. That they don't agree with what they love is no reason to diss them.

Especially when they are stayers, and a manager more often than not will be a goer.

So as I said in brackets - that means there's a problem higher up.
IF AVB did not have the final say as to which player he wanted then there's a problem.

At Spurs, and indeed any top club, realistically, no manager will ever have full control over buying. We have a technical director here (or sporting director, or director of football, or whatever meaningless phrase they've decided to plump with this time) and that means compromise.

Gorky seems to think we were Great
Judging by Gorky's ratings here, seems as if he thinks we should play like that every game! Oh yes let's!

Jesus, we spent a LOT of money over the Summer strengthening a team which was already strong and Top 4 strong and we should be whipping teams like Fulham all day every day. There is absolutely no excuse for having just about beat Fulham, and I mean just about.

Liverpool on paper should have thrashed Hull on Sunday like they did Norwich tonight. Man city should thrash Cardiff away but lost. Honestly football isn't that black and white.

Putting aside the performance, it has to be said that AVB's away record with Spurs is incredible.

Difficult circumstances to be playing against Fulham, but we dug deep and got the win. There are definitely signs that things are moving in the right direction.

Having said that, if Verts is out injured and Naughton is played at LB, AVB might as well start filling out his JSA forms now.

I like everything about this post except the last line :)

We have scored 4 long range strikes due to individual quality. Still no attacking fluidity, flair or guile. Tonight does nothing to suggest AVB has fixed anything. Same old mistakes with the team he picks and same brand of dull, slow football.

The result is what matters right now. But long term it just buys this joker more time. No doubt the AVB fans will use this result as a statement of change...but it just isn't.

for the amount of defensive mids, still nobody picked up berbatov, the defence held their line and the mids let him drift between them and the defence far too easily, good player he is but not particukarly quick yet AVB didnt try and stop him hurting us enough

I genuinely don't remember Vlad doing anything too stupid tonight. But maybe he did. I do remember Dawson losing possession for the goal though, and also being the reason Lloris had to pull off a great one handed save.
I think Paulinho deserves his share of the blame for giving the ball away for the goal too. He backed into their player (Parker?) instead of going for the ball. He made the poor pass from Dawson much worse.

Quite probably the most idiotic post I've read since the last page. Jesus

did u see the game in last tens since we scored second.. i suggest watching it again. all over the shop we were and everyone knew we would concede chances. we gave them every chance to claim a draw. we always always give teams a chance. proper teams realise how shit they are playing and see games out, we get lucky

Yeah but starting two defensive midfielders with a box to box midfielder in the AM slot isn't exactly going to fucking rack up the goals is it

Paulinho played in an advanced role against United and was a revelation. Given tonight's attacking performance from Fulham I thought it was a stroke of genius on AVB's part to anticipate the necessity of two Defensive Midfielders in a holding pattern.

Up to 6th in the table, but a woeful goal difference (-2). We really need to score a lot more.

I'd say watch the game again, Fulham might'nt of won the scoreboard but for desire, passion & charachter they won hands down
And i'd say that's got fuck all to do with some of the embarrassing vitriol posted in this thread tonight other than to highlight how bad it was even further.

Mods. Please set up two communities with a wall in between.....Berlin is a decent model. AVB haters on one side and those who, well, don't hate him on the other. Cheers.

I hear you - however they clearly weren't awful tonight (of course, the ONE night they play us)... They were going for broke from the get-go and played with callousness and spirited determinism from the sounds of it!

Yeah, they did play harder than they have previously this season, and to go there and get a win in those circumstances is great. A team who didn't believe in their manager certainly wouldn't have achieved that.

I think a lot of the frustration also comes from the (let's face it) extremely disappointing return we've seen from our summer investment so far. Big things were expected and so far we haven't seen anything like what we expected.

I hope the majority of Spurs fans can stay behind AVB and the team over the next month or so. I understand that the football is not the best at the moment but we have to give this team an opportunity. The quality and quick counter-attacking moves will develop as the team gels.

AVB has changed a few things in the last two games (different game approach/tempo against Man Utd and introducing Defoe this evening). I have confidence that this tinkering when combined with a greater understanding between players will yield results.

Sometimes it is good to get the opinions of non-spurs fans who aren't biased numpties (i.e. Arsenal/West Ham fans). Not one person I have spoken to thinks sacking AVB is the right thing to do. Keep believing for just a bit longer....
