I have a feeling he'll risk Capoue though, or will play for 60 minutes or something - just to notch up more minutes for hitting optimum match sharpness/fitness after a lengthy lay off.

Could be wrong.

I would play some of the first team that need to get fitness up, either due to not enough games or just back from injury.

But fill up the gaps with the youngsters as well.

Plenty of games coming up, so players will need to just step into the team at times, so the extra game time in this game could help

Bentaleb and Veljkovic have both been on our bench in Europe have they not? They've definitely both been on our bench this season, though perhaps that's been in either the league or league cup, but I was sure it was in Europe. Smith, fair enough, that sounds right. And Kane, yes. Okay, in that case throw in Lamela for Kane (and swap him round with Chadli), Naughton for Smith, either Vlad or Dawson for Veljkovic, and try our Holtby dead centre to see how he does partnering a full on anchorman.

Happy?

Neither Milos Veljkovic or Nabil Bentelab have been included in any Europa League squad this season.

Bentelab has not been at Spurs for the necessary 2 years in order to qualify as a List B under 21, so would not be able to appear beforee Xmas (after which the List A squad can be changed, so he could be include). Milos Veljkovic status at Spurs in 2011/12 is unclear, so it is unclear whether he is eligible to be included in a List B under 21 list (ie has he done the necessary 2 years at Spurs).

Neither are currently included in the squad list listed on UEFA site - but this can be updated for List B players up to about 24 hours before the match.

FYI there are no rules requiring length of service for under 21 players to be included in PL or domestic cup squads - I think Bentelab has been included in a couple of these squads, but not sure Veljkovic has. .

A common sense approach - but AVB played very few youngsters last season when the u21 squad was far stronger and our first team squad less strong. So will he do that this season ? I live in hope !

Since we've won the group I really hope the starting lineup doesn't include any player considered for the squad vs Liverpool.

Yup he did....step forward Mr Fryers and Mr Kane.......and Mr Lamela is under 21 too ! So that could be the youngsters he referred too !

But it would be nice to see maybe 3-4 in the team and a couple more on the bench so as to help give a break to some of the first team - particularly the defenders who have are thin on the ground at the moment with the current injury list.

Don't want to see any senior players involved, unless Rose is back and therefore give him 20-30minutes

Interesting to see what kind of team that Anzhi send.

In the Russian league, they are bottom after 19 matches - 8 draws and 11 losses with a goal difference of 12-30 (ie - 18).. Their only wins this season have been 1-0 over Tromso home and away which with a draw has got them to 2nd place in the group and into the knock out phase.

Their last Russian league game was on Saturday (a 0-0 draw) and they now have a winter break until March, so unfortunately I can see them sending a strongish team as this will be the last game before their winter break, even though there is nothing to play for.

So if Ade is training, he's bound to be involved tomorrow night.

Hopefully Eriksen and Rose to - althought I doubt it.

Eriksen shown in a picture just losing a sprint with Townsend on OS Twitter said to be from this mornings training, so there's a chance for him to make an appearance - maybe from bench ?

Hopefully mate, yeah!

I'm concerned about Vlad though....he was doing so well, hope he's not out for a lengthy period. Can't afford to lose him and Vertonghen over the xmas period, that would leave us ridiculously short at CB.

especially if Kaboul is also not fit - losing 3 out of 4 CB's to injury would be riudiculous

Yes but didn't AVB say he would be back in training but the game on Thursday would be too soon for him.

Hopefully they've decided he might be ready!!!

Yes but even if ready, I hope he'd only come off the bench for the last 30 minutes or so. Time to wrap him in cotton wool

AVB said he was 90% chance of starting against Chelsea as well ;)
I hope it was he wouldn't start, but still holding out that he could be in the squad.

Unless we still have 3 CB's out against Liverpool i dont think he will start unless he gets a run out on Thursday

Thats what im hoping for

I'm expecting:

Lloris
Walker Dawson Capoue Naughton
Paulinho Dembele
Townsend Holtby Lamela
Soldado
I just can't see AVB playing youth players at all.

I want (and I don't know if any of these names are ineligble):

Archer
Naughton Dawson Hall Fryers
Carroll Veljkovic
McEvoy Kane Lamela
Adebayor
