Pretty sure he didn't, and the reason given was that Dawson was offside, was it not? It did seem as if Ade was blocking the linesman's view so that he couldn't see Zabaleta (?) was playing Daws onside, so it was perhaps a forgivable error. The penalty certainly wasn't. Rose definitely got the ball before contact was made.
disagree is neutral, only dislike and spam are negative
Gonna re-watch later.I don't believe in neg rep so not disagreeing officially but I disagree. Defo walker

What worries me is that we Sherwood never caters his lineup or tactics to the opposition. We played the same team against arsenal and palace, and then the same team versus swansea and city. A highly worrisome trend
I simply do not understand this. Was I watching some other game? Man city are one of the best teams in the world. After watching them pin us back for 25 minutes Tim got the guys getting stuck in and kicking them and we should have gone in 1-1. Then we were robbed by a horrendous, bad decision by the same idiot who flagged for offside and then the game was over. A team of city's quality will keep the ball better and until the 4th goal (which was a deflection) we never let our heads drop and kept fighting. The fifth goal also fell kindly for them.
Aguero was always going to give Daws the runaround like he would about 90% of the centre backs in the world - Daws got stuck into him after the 25th minute. Silva is a magician. Benteleb could have been tighter for the goal but his off the ball movement was quick and sharp. Nabil was good - played well and forward. Once Tim got Mousa to play forward rather than sideways they were being pressed back. All the signs were good until that idiot got his decisions wrong.
And now Tim is on notice?!?!? Mate this is not Football Manager and I don't think you have spent enough time on a pitch playing the game.
My point is that in a game like this, Bentaleb may not have been the right choice in retrospect. Capoue came on for Dembele and it seemed that Bentaleb should have been taken off instead. We were being sliced through the middle and that wrecked our defensive shape, one not helped by the tortured Dawson.Bentaleb didn't have a good game, he's just a kid, it's going to be like that. He has played excellently recently though and had earned his place... I'm intrigued about this magical DM which you speak of though which would of turned the game on it's head... What defensive genius do we have in our squad who didn't play and wouldn't of made everything ok??? Don't kid yourself, they're just better than us, they have a more settled squad, a more settled system behind the scenes and on the pitch, all the money in the world and some absolutely world class talent.
If you're looking to assign blame to a single issue not playing a DM is a pretty deluded one to pick.
Indeed. I like what he's trying to do with the team, get us passing and improving our movement offensively and defensively, but our players aren't executing well enough to do it.
With a midfield like today's with no real defensive minded midfielders the goal was to keep the ball well and improve our fluidity with accurate/effective passing but what's the point when they're all giving the ball away? Dembele, Eriksen and Bentaleb were all guilty of multiple sloppy passes throughout the game tonight which just put even more unnecessary pressure on us and generally speaking, I don't think Dembele's and Eriksen's passing up until this point in the season has been that great.
We had a severe lack of control tonight and what's frustrating is that in the very few times we did have control of the ball in the final 3rd, there were gaps in their defence to exploit but we were so unable to get any hold on the game that we weren't able to put them to the test at all.
I've to give football manager a go sometime because it seems to be all the rage on here, especially among the know-all ex-pros, it seems.
You can make all the excuses in the world, but we've shipped 5 goals at home. Again. And we shipped 3 against West Ham. And 6 against City away. 11-1 we've lost to City in the league this year and no matter how good they are, we should be very embarrassed by that. AVB should have been, and Sherwood should be.
And as someone who thinks it was right to let AVB go, even though he had done well the previous season and had us in a reasonably good league position this, you'd have to be blind to think it's ok for us to lose 5-1 again anytime soon. The upper echelons want 4th place and no tonkings. Those are the criteria by which AVB was measured, and those are the criteria Sherwood himself has more-or-less acknowledged apply to him.
We can't go on getting beat by 4, 5, and 6 goals, because it lays bare the fact that we're not really in the same league as our so called peers. All along we've been convincing ourselves that the side beating United at Old trafford and close to Liverpool on points is the real Spurs, and the side getting smashed by City (twice), Liverpool, and West Ham is the aberration. Another 5-goal embarrassment would start suggesting that the loser side of that equation is the real Spurs. They need to buck up their ideas in the big games that matter to this seasons outcome, and Sherwood is the one who will carry the can if they don't.
At least that's what football manager should be telling me.
Dembélé's was fine, with the usual proviso that he tends to take the safe option. Bentaleb was OK, but well below his standard in previous games. He didn't see as much of the ball, either. Eriksen again didn't get too many wrong (I think like Dembélé the ones that went astray stand out disproportionately), but really didn't see as much of the ball as he ought to have done. For crap passing, Sig's got to take the accolade, surely; I doubt he made more than a dozen, and at least half must have gone adrift.
I simply do not understand your argument. Are you saying that it is unacceptable for us to get thrashed by west ham, Liverpool and city under AVB? Considering that his tactical and man management approach did not seem to be working, the chairman held him accountable and sacked him.
Under Sherwood, this was the first game we lost. We were playing one of the best (and possibly the richest) teams in the world and were on the receiving end of two harsh decisions. We showed heart and fight for the most part of the game. Are we in the same league? Well City and Chelsea have the financial clout we do not have. Arsenal have financial stability and resources we simply do not. Liverpool as well. They are the only teams above us - we are a well run club, but we simply cannot consistently challenge for the top 3 on our financial resources and stadium capacity. Such expectations are unrealistic. But Tim is doing a very good job and if AVB was given time; based on what I've seen so far, Tim should be given an equal amount if not more time.

Tim's run kept us there abouts, but march will seal our fate imo.
I just don't trust tim to pick the right players for big games.
